COLUMBUS DAY
Yesterday was an awesome Columbus Day Monday with my girls. I had two goals: maintain a pleasant buzz from 10:00 am to cannon and stage a photobomb picture with the Queen. I succeeded at both. Photos will be up later this week.
We got to see full show of the Beerside Scoundrels and they were really good. I don't mean this to sound as snarky as it's going to sound, I promise--but really, I was surprised at how good they were. Their songs were great, with minimal stage patter that serves only to segue to the next song instead of it seeming like filler for lack of repertoire. Pity they chose such a crap song to sing at Smoker that day.
Because we lost track of time hanging out with the Rogues at the Canterbury Town Hall Public House The Fuck Ever It's Called Now we missed Bawdily Harm's stage show. =b Ah well, the company was good.
I started getting a headache near the tail end of Smoker, and by the time I got home after dinner, I was in some serious pain. I'm not entirely sure what triggered it (I really didn't have that much to drink), but I think the combination of booze, not much water, very little food, and the weather shift from morning rain to clear-ish skies by early evening resulted in a perfect storm of headache. I barely made it up the stairs and out of my clothes before bed. I woke up around midnight, took off my jewelry and makeup (thank god I was only wearing standard day makeup, not my drag queen costume face), and then failed to fall asleep for the next two hours.
That kind of sucked.
I still have a little bit of a headache today, which means I don't feel terribly much like eating. I'm afraid that's going to exacerbate the headache problem, though. This is the one problem with paleo-style eating. There's not much on my menu for when my system is feeling delicate.
I'm getting started on a new costume today if I can find the appropriate fabric here in town. A new cabaret costume! I haven't made a cabaret costume since the 2006 Cairo on the Kaw's leopard print one (now deceased and dismembered due to some considerable body changes). I don't have a single straight cabaret costume in my dance wardrobe, and that really needs to change. So. Costume Ho!
Now I just need to go retrieve my car from Tess and Natalie's place because there was no way I was going to be able to drive home last night. Stupid headaches are stupid.

Brian wound up down with a migraine after yesterday, too. Made the evening go a little different than planned, but so it goes.
Was fantastic to see you again! Once faire is over, we'll have to get together and enjoy some wine.

I hope Brian feels better today.
And YES for post-faire wine hang-outs.

Out, out damned headache!
So glad you had a super day, are you dancing Saturday? That's when we decided to make the "birthday trip" out.
