Like a Boss*

After viewing my workwear ensemble yesterday morning, I felt uncomfortably like a brownshirt, but it was too late to pick out a new outfit and I didn't want to wake [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick by rustling around in the closet. This is a long and unnecessary story to explain why today's xkcd was especially funny to me.

Because goddamn, the Nazis were super sharp dressers in addition to being amazing scientists and horrifying monsters. And speaking of clothing and fashion, today is [livejournal.com profile] auroraceleste's Creative Chat Day. So!

About Creative Chat

This Week's Topic:

What is your favorite fabric to work with?

I love working with lightweight wool, even though I don't use it very often. It's so solid and comforting. I love how forgiving it is, how it stays where you want it and doesn't shift under your scissors or between the foot and feed dogs. I love how you can almost sculpt with it, given the appropriate application of steam and pressure.

Although I do not like winter (at all), I vastly prefer fall/winter fashion. If I could live somewhere that never got below freezing, but still had temps in the 40s and 50s during the winter months, that would be fantastic. Does such a place exist? Because I'd be all over that. Hello, my lovely jackets and boots! How wonderful to wear just them and not cover up with scarves, coat, and multiple layers of stockings/socks/legwarmers.

But I got distracted by this

I'm...completely baffled by how you got this image while trying to figure out how "like a boss" related to the entry. I understand why you were distracted, though. Holy crap.

It's on a blog forum thread "Like A Boss"
and so is this, which is more on the path I was seeking

Ha! But you're on the wrong path, sorry! I wasn't referencing a meme.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)

Wow.
It's become something totally different, then.
I was thinking along the lines of sharp dressing, of course.
But now...

I am enlightened in ways I cannot describe, some of which I wish I could unsee. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NisCkxU544c) (NSFW for some audio)

I'll email ya the answer, so as not to spoil the challenge for anyone else. =)

cool.. thanks for enlightening me in a better way ;)

No gold star for me today, I hope someone else gets it.

There is such a place. Unfortunately, it is Texas/ Florida. I lived in both places for over six years and could count the times it snowed in BOTH places on one hand. Less than five snowfalls in 12 years, and the snows were light dustings gone in a matter of hours.

I forgot to mention the part where it also rarely gets above 90F, and has minimal humidity. Oops.

How about Northern California (Redwood Coast in particular)? There is also Ireland if you can handle the rare freeze. My ideal weather is between 40 and 70 with enough moisture to make it nice and green.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmmmm. Big trees would be a nice bonus.

1. wut joke? i feelz like such a ding dong.

2. How do you like RAIN? Portland weather is pretty mild. I'm with you on cold weather...oh, what about Northern California?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-12-01 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be posting the Obscure Cultural Reference in today's LJ post since nobody got it. =(

I think I could survive rain if it meant no ice and snow. I'm not willing to have rain that turns into ice and snow, though. I've got that now, and it blows.

"Tucson, AZ climate is hot during summer when temperatures tend to be in the 80's and cool during winter when temperatures tend to be in the 50's.

The warmest month of the year is July with an average maximum temperature of 99.99 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coldest month of the year is January with an average minimum temperature of 41.90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Temperature variations between night and day tend to be moderate during summer with a difference that can reach 24 degrees Fahrenheit, and moderate during winter with an average difference of 25 degrees Fahrenheit."

Does get above 90degrees but no humidity. We don't get anything as gross as that day I was visiting you!

Just sayin'.

I've known since childhood that I wanted to move to Arizona. I keep making Poor Relationship Choices in regards to achieving that goal, though.

*sigh*
