Hey! It's not Piriformis Syndrome after all! Awesome, right? Wrong! It's a bulging disk!
No more bending at the waist or rounding my back for a while, and those motions are probably something I should avoid from now on, just in general.
Burpees are completely off the menu.
Dr. Jones gave me three simple movements that I'm supposed to do several times a day for the next week, and I have another PT appointment on Thursday.
This body, I tell you what.

Oh hell. Well, I think that's better.. so to speak. But still.. painful.. ow, ow, ow.
Be gentle with yourself. We're like fine wines that only age well when we don't handle ourselves too roughly.
That's my story...

This is a good metaphor.
That said, I think this calls for some tub time. Email me and we'll set a date.

(Do you have soft gel ice packs? Put them on for 10-15 mins every 2 hours or so for the first 48 hours.)
Last week, I had the new experience of icing my pubis. Wow, was that ever refreshing! (Actually, I hope to never ever experience that again.)

I knew my instinct was right about those burpees and backs! I quit after day five because I could just feel disc tragedy waiting to happen.
Well, as someone with two chronically unstable discs and, as you know, frequent and back outages that come for stupid non-reasons, you have my utmost sympathy for the whole freaking thing and all it entails.
You can do a sock filled with rice, frozen, and it doesn't seem as bad as ice. (Also we use that, microwaved, for heat.)
Best thing i ever did for my back was get the inversion table. decompression is key!

Since I was just diagnosed with a neck hernia, and have to give up karate, I feel you, 100%.

The frozen rice sounds like a great idea. Rice is going on the shopping list! How funny.
D'you think yoga headstands would do the same for decompression? I don't feel like investing the money and space into an inversion table...

Physical therapy was the only thing that helped me when I herniated the lowest disk in my spine in my early twenties. It was a very difficult time.
