It had to happen sometime

Okay, so those of you who are local can imagine my mood this morning.

I woke up in a fairly bright room, thinking I overslept, which meant I came awake with a huge rush of adrenaline. I looked at the clock...3:15? Oh shit. Fucking snow. I haven't looked outside for any longer than it took to confirm yes indeed white shit, so I don't know how much is actually out there. It's enough, though, that I called to cancel my chiropractor appointment. [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick spent some time (I have no idea when--after I went to bed) getting the Saab (theoretically) in running order, but I'm not willing to risk it. No fucking way am I going to take any chance of that bastard dying on me during morning rush traffic in bad weather. No and no and no. Sorry, honey. I appreciate it, but I can't afford for any more of my soul to die at this point--should the car crap out on me again.

Firefox keeps crashing on me, but I'm afraid to upgrade. I've heard horror stories. Any thoughts from people who've made the jump?

Sherlock costume prep is coming along swimmingly. I found (via Google Image Search --> Tumblr --> LiveJournal) the most helpful and friendly person who has already recreated Sherlock's coat and posted her experiences. What a wealth of information! She's the bomb. I also found fabric already, which is no small miracle, and at an affordable price, which is a pretty major one. Also (and this is truly the feather in this costume's cap, if it had one, which it doesn't, and that's a pity because really I look pretty good in hats) we have a Moriarty now. I'm so excited about this I think I might combust.

Fuck, I probably should have gone out to shovel the sidewalk instead of writing this up before I left for the office.

I upgraded from Firefox 6 to Firefox 9 on both my PC and my Macbook about three weeks ago with no problems whatsoever as far as I can see (other than the annoyance of doing it over a very slow Internet connection, but that's separate from the problem of Firefox). I think it even kept all of my bookmarks.

Good luck in the snow; as I think you told me before, it isn't about the snow so much as about the infrastructure for dealing with it, right?

Well, I really hate snow, too. So it's pretty much all of it.

HA! I am still on Firefox 3.

When my Firefox started to crash every other day I downloaded Google Chrome and haven't had a single problem with it.

Also, I did think of you when I saw the snow, but it was quickly swamped by the adorableness of Natalia when she noticed it and did her happy-happy-6-year-old snow dance. Aw.

[livejournal.com profile] mckitterick uses Google Chrome and has tons of problems with it on his PC. *sigh*

I'm glad this stuff can make somebody happy. And a happy-dancing Natalia is a beautiful thing indeed.

I've installed all three: Firefox, IE9, and Chrome, and I let the Browser Masters decide for me when it's time to install updates and shit, so I probably have a newish Firefox that works as well as Firefox does. I will always dislike Firefox, though, because I just can't get over the microscopic fonts. Right there kills it for me. I don't like Chrome because, well, Google owns the rest of the interwebs and it worries me what they do with their ad-server... er, I mean browser.

Sorry about the snow. Nice of you to shovel! I did the back and extended the shoveling most of the rest of the way south on our block. Also fed the outdoor pets.

I use Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera on various computers (browser queen, c'est moi). You can try Opera; I am not too well-versed in its problems or lack thereof, but it generally loads faster than Firefox.

Hate snow solidarity. If you need a ride for an errand after work, lemme know.

I upgraded after having the same Firefox issues, and it's been smooth sailing since for me at home. It even upgraded my add-ons recently. No problems on Jbird's old dog either.
(Just wish I could use it at work.)

I use it for work, and I'm on Firefox 11-- the latest in the beta channel. It is still syncing and working fine for my work tasks.

For my personal browsing, I use Chrome with only a few sites that don't layout correctly in it.

I have no terrible issues with either. Of course, I'm completely on Unix platforms both at home and work, thankfully.

I downloaded Chrome. Its bookmarks function is not obvious, but at least I can purchase e-books on it, while my ancient Firefox now refuses to purchase books. Any time some site refuses to work, I just open the chrome tab and swipe the address off Firefox for the new window.

Lazy-ass, c'est moi.
