Fuuuuuuuuck

Thanks to this fucking awesome Rule63'd Sherlock and Watson, I am thinking twice about making my Sherlock coat a full-length greatcoat. Because that drawing there is a fucking awesome interpretation.

Damn you, [livejournal.com profile] pennswoods.

I...I might be tempted to chuck my pattern and start over. I am approximately five hours away from having a final drafted pattern, ready to cut in Actual Wool Coat Fabric.

WHAT WHAT WHAT AM I DOING.

Update: I just talked myself out of it. THAT WAS CLOSE, YOU GUYZ.

I have a solution! Why don't you do both!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

There are these two small issues of TIME and FABRIC.

Also, I can only show one in the competition.

Competition? How cool! I didn't know you were entering into a competition.

A-yep. The masquerade competition at my local SF con. It's a teeny little con, but I enter something every other year. AND [livejournal.com profile] belluthien JUST NEEDS TO SIT ON HER HANDS THIS YEAR. =D

So, I gather you want to win, right? So think about the judging.

Do they want it EXACTLY like the one on TV? Or do they like some variation thrown in?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-05-11 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Our masquerade is so small that honestly, it's not a big deal. And I'm not a terribly competitive person. I'm mostly just teasing [livejournal.com profile] belluthien because her costumes are so outrageously awesome. Like seriously SERIOUSLY amazing stuff (http://www.yvettes.net/index.html).

The judges at ConQuesT are different every year, and there really are no standards. So it's impossible to know ahead of time what they're looking for. Some years everybody gets some silly made-up award, some years they don't even give a Best In Show. It's completely unpredictable.

Oh, is THAT HER? Ok, yes, she does do some great work!

Well, I guess you just have to go with what you want to wear afterward!

(Personally, for me-that's the long coat. YMMV.)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-05-11 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's her. She is incredibly skilled, and such a sweetheart, to boot.

I'm probably going to stick with the long coat since that's what I've put so much time into.
