This weekend is Homecoming Weekend for KU, and (to make things even better), it's KU's 100th anniversary of having a Homecoming event. FUCKING YAY. I'm glad that very nearly my entire Saturday is going to be spent in Kansas City.

Because I have no shame when it comes to musical tastes, I don't care if I get flak for saying that YES ACTUALLY I DO KIND OF LIKE DUBSTEP, and this is a great dubstep mashup. It's an hour long, and perfect for background music. I wish it ended on a different song than "Wonderwall" but nothing's perfect.

I like that it incorporates a song that I love just all on its own (even thought I don't watch True Blood), and that appears in several current mash-ups:

WHY YES, MR. McAVOY, YES I WOULD. THANK YOU FOR ASKING.

I love Jay Smooth so much.

The preview for the new Evil Dead movie is popping up all over my LJ F-page and on FB. At one point, my toes curled so hard they hurt. This might require a group viewing at the theater.

I mean SHIT, SON. That tongue thing?

Of all the myriad ways you could play an Evil Dead remake, "completely straight" is not the one I expected them to go with, though it just might be the only one with any real chance of being good.

(Also, I thought that shot of the washed-out bridge looked very sharp.)

At this point I count myself as having no investment in it one way or the other, but I'd almost certainly be up for that group theatrical viewing, if it happens.

I will definitely put you on the invite list. 2013 is already so full of other movies that are higher priority, though, I can't promise it'll happen. But maybe!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Which of the above prompted it?

[identity profile] msmitti.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
homecoming. gah.

I didn't watch any of the vids since, supposedly, I am working.

I feel like humor entered Evil Dead from the second movie, which was mainly a remake of the first one... with humor added. The first movie was pretty much transgressive horror, with very little humor in it.

[identity profile] orrin.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly? I haven't seen it in too long to really say. But it's still not the route I would have expected them to take with a remake, however appropriate it might be.

STUPID WORKING

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I respect them for going that route, and I agree with your original statement that "it just might be the only (choice) with any real chance of being good."

AW, JESUS, THE TONGUE THING. WHY OH WHY?

YouTube felt this was related, and it looks hilarious:

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdNpFoWrBDQ).

I WARNED YOU. Especially about the tongue thing.

So. Wanna see it?

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
YES

Warning: I'll be covering my eyes a fair bit....

I'll let you know when you can look. That's how my mom got through Aliens, btw.

You'll be my alert system in dizzy-making 3D scenes and I'll be yours for gruesome stuff.

Tucker & Dale is on Netflix watch instant, if you've got it. It's good, but not as good as the hype that surrounded it when it first came out. Pure comedy, zero horror, but lots of splatstick gore.

OH MR. McAVOY, YOU CHEEKY TART. <3 <3 <3

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_luaineach/ 2012-10-25 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
wait, what, people don't like dubstep?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know. Whatever. Losers. Some people don't like pop music, some people don't like rap, some people don't like country.

I've got it all in my CD collection and I like it that way!

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a plan!

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds mixed but fun!

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
THAT IS FULL OF AWESOME.

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-10-25 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
You embrace multitudes.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2012-10-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Jace Everett's full CDs are pretty damn good all around.
I wuv dubstep, too.. and just about a whole helluva lot else. Good music is Good Music, regardless.

I can't wait to view the vids

. More later!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-26 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Next time I come over, please play a CD or two for me? Much appreciated!

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2012-10-26 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
I, too, am very fond of dubstep.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-26 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay!

Can you tell me some especially good artists? Most of what I hear is just mixed-in stuff. If you have some albums you can recommend, I'd be most appreciative.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_luaineach/ 2012-10-26 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
btw, that track IS great background musics and a perfect length for me since I usually work in hour long chunks. thanks!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-26 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Hurray! You're welcome!

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2012-10-27 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Frankly, they are MP3. I wasn't sure I'd like the full on, but Red Revelations is my fave. The new one, too acoustic.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2012-10-27 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
hand up for that list, too!

I did get the Foster People CD, is that dubstep? Sadly, the CD player in the Blazer won't release it GAH!
