I almost slept through the night!

I think the lighter blanket might be helping with my successful sleeping. I woke at 2:45a feeling a bit chilled. Not freezing cold, just not cozy. I turned the heated mattress pad up to 2 (it goes to 10) and fell back asleep within a reasonable amount of time. I didn't wake until I was supposed to, around 5:40a.

Possible success?

Still kinda tired today. I could probably fall asleep for a half hour nap right now if I could. And my legs feel heavy and weak. That happens a lot, though. I've never been able to pinpoint what causes it.

Yay for sleep resolution!

Did you hang out on the couch for most of the weekend? Maybe your legs are just pouting, LOL. (Okay, seriously, though, I used to get that when I was anemic/low in B12).

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-03-04 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, what looks like it might be resolution, anyway. I want a full week's worth of regular sleep before I call it a success.

Actually, I was fairly active all weekend. I mean, I didn't run any marathons or anything, but couch time was pretty minimal.

Edit: Hm. You know, since I can't donate blood anymore, I wonder how my iron levels are doing...

Oh, man. I am so glad that I've never really had insomnia problems.

Closest I come to that is what I did Saturday night/Sunday morning. I was down with a cold on Friday and Saturday (in my EYES, OMFG THEY HURT!), so got my days & nights mixed, and stayed up reading till 5 a.m. Sunday. Yeah, that was really good for my eyes too, but I didn't care. :D

I've noticed that I sleep better slightly cool, rather than overwarm. I tend to have really weird dreams if I get too hot. Not necessarily good dreams, either. So I'm glad that our bedroom is the second coolest room in the house-the spare bedroom, which is directly over the storm cellar (and thus has six inches of concrete under the floor) is the only one cooler.

I love sleeping under fluffy blankets in a cold room!

Might be worth a look-see. It's a cheap test, isn't it?
They can probably do it in the office.

And you need to quit oh-so-pragmatically squelching my attempts at focusing on positive results for you.
Nyaaah.
Pthhpppt.
Etc.
Or...maybe I'm being overly optimistic today, you're actually the second person today who has curbed my enthusiasm, ha!

HA! After nearly a decade of dealing with nutty health issues, I never trust a single experience as indicative of change in either direction.

I'll ask Dr. Burt to do a hemoglobin test next week, too. Good call.

Yep-there's been quite a few days this year that I've considered cracking my bedroom window and letting some cool air in overnight, at least until the north doors got left open the past few weeks!

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2013-03-04 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)

Glad I could help.

Hey, though, it's two nights in a row of *better* sleep, saith the Pushy BitchFriend.
I just hope it keeps getting better, even if by degrees.

Sympathies. I know what joy it can be to finally get some sleep after nights and nights without it.

Although I sometimes think of what I heard in a conversation once, that we often beat ourselves up more when we have insomnia, lying awake worrying that our performance is going to suffer because we lay awake, and truly it suffers much less than we think it does.

It's true that after two weeks I was starting to stress out about how rotten I felt.

And my legs feel heavy and weak.

I discovered by accident once (wasn't testing because of it, but because of something else) that my legs get like this when my blood pressure is lower than [its already low] normal.

ETA: which seems to be related to dehydration/low on electrolytes

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-03-04 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
*looks at my nearly-finished 55oz sippy cup of water*

I don't think I'm dehydrated.

Electrolytes, though. Hm. I don't drink anything other than water with lemon or herbal teas. What does one do to boost electrolytes...I'll have to look that up. Thanks for the idea!

Ya, doctor said i was drinking TOO MUCH plain water and possibly causing an electrolyte imbalance, particularly with respect to potassium (which I can sometimes get not all via eating, depending on how strictly I am eating). Now i just [try] to remember to drink coconut water every day [or most days] and consider all well.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-03-04 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. That sounds easy enough. Would coconut milk (sometimes I add a dollop of it to hot water) do the same thing? Edit: Oh, I just looked up "coconut water" and it's a different part of the coconut, so probably not.
