Looks like I'll be making a new batch of deodorant this weekend

Okay, well, you might want to toss any Johnson & Johnson products in your house. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] shanmonster for the heads-up on that.

How well can you do on the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life quiz? Boo-yah:

Looks like that Religious Studies degree was finally good for something.

I see Dr. Khosh this afternoon to review my blood tests from Monday.

March blood results:
Free T4: .8 (range .8 to 1.8)
Free T3: 2.3 (range 2.3 to 4.2)
TSH: 6.14 (range .4 to 4.5)
TPO: 381 (should be less than 35)

April blood results:
Free T4: 1.0 (range .8 to 1.8)
Free T3: 79 (range 76-181; different test range)
TSH: 2.24 (range .4 to 4.5)
TPO: 347 (should be less than 35)

The TSH looks so much better. I'd like to get those TPO numbers down more--those are the thyroid antibodies indicative of being in an active state of inflammation/autoimmune response.

I'll leave you with this:

Awwww.

and this:

Hm. J&J products are made all over the world, including here, so that's a bit disconcerting. Luckily I don't think I use anything of theirs.
I've been using a lot of products made by DG Body in Canada and sold at the Dollar General. They are great! Especially the eye serum and gels. And I (perhaps naively) trust Canada for quality ingredients more than I do here or a lot of other places.

15/15 for me, too. yay for independent theological curiosity!

Angel bat is adorable!

Thanks for the tip! I think I might just hit the Merc for some baking soda and cornstarch, though.

I never thought much of angels (the 80s and 90s television shows and movies didn't do much for them, frankly). But Supernatural has made me rather fond of 'em.

Looks like that *Physics* degree was finally good for something! I'm finally in the 1%!

Did you look at the score breakdown at the end? The discrepancy between the "prayer in school" vs. "bible as lit" answers was predictably infuriating.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-05-03 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the score breakdowns were pretty interesting. As usual, I was saddened/annoyed, but not surprised.

I wonder how many people don't choose Edwards in the last question because they think it's a trick option referencing the politician.

14/15 for me; that last question was the stumper. All the others were easy, frankly.

It appears I don't use much in the way of J&J. Don't use baby powder at all. Can't stand the smell!

Love the angel bat!

And wishes for good results on your doc visit!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-05-03 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the good wishes!

Looks like I might not have to return to synthetic hormone treatment. Of course, the natural supplement is about ten times as expensive as the prescription drug. But hey! The fewer synthetics I've got in my system, the better.

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2013-05-03 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh - I got 14/15! I find it fascinating that atheists are only slightly behind Jewish survey-takers, while people who follow the other religions are less and less informed on religion. There you go.

I don't know how people could toss all their J&J products; that's half of what's in everyone's bathrooms....

Lemme know when you want a ride to get to Dr. Khosh's.

ANGEL!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-05-03 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)

As I noted to [livejournal.com profile] poincaraux, I wasn't surprised at all.

I don't know how people could toss all their J&J products

Most people probably won't.

I leave the office at 3:00 for my 3:30 appointment. Thanks!

[identity profile] siro-gravity.livejournal.com 2013-05-04 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
I scored a 12 on that quiz, which is about 6 answers better than I thought I'd do.

Love the bat-as-angel pic!!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-05-04 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I look forward to posting my Bats Tumblr Collection in a couple weeks or months...

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2013-05-04 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I missed one. I bet it was the Pakistan question--I was second-guessing myself like crazy.

The rat and bat are making me squee!

ETA: My favorite "hippie" deodorant only has two ingredients: shea butter and baking soda. It's a pain to put on at first, but it doesn't leave white marks on dark clothes and it works pretty well. There's recipes all over (it's usually 1:1 and then melted together), but I buy it from a local company.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-05-04 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay Rodents!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-05-04 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm! I wonder if the shea butter keeps the baking soda from being too harsh--that's why I add the cornstarch.

Thanks!

I'm still not going to purchase their products anymore. Honestly, if they used this stuff once in a facility somewhere, who's to say they're not using it somewhere else right now and haven't been caught?
