Your imaginations ache and hunger

I don't have a lot to say (I don't think), but I wanted to make a post because I feel good today. And that's...kind of unusual for a Monday, especially a Monday after a session with Andrew. I should be wiped out. And I guess I am, sort of, but it's more of an "I worked hard yesterday and am slightly weary" and less a "holy fuck how did I manage to drag my ass out of bed I have no idea."

Of course, I might revise this analysis when two o'clock rolls around this afternoon and I start wishing for a nap.

This morning when I woke up, I thought I had energy for yoga, but after I started up with some sun salutations...no. Instead, I did some fairly intense mobility work with our arsenal of self-myofascial release tools which now include golf balls, thanks to a Target run yesterday. The golf ball is a replacement for the lacrosse ball under my foot now that the lacrosse ball doesn't give me quite enough resistance on that area (thanks to thrice-weekly mobility work for the past few months). I could tell there were areas, especially in my heel, that the lacrosse ball wasn't getting at all. In other words, it hurt to roll out my foot for the first time in quite a while. It took me 50 minutes to roll out my feet, inside and outside ankles, calves, hamstrings, quadriceps, IT bands, hip adductors, glutes, and back.

Mobility work takes time. Totally worth it, though. I'm convinced my dedication to this particular type of mobility training is what has helped me make surprisingly rapid strength gains since I started training with Andrew. Well, surprisingly rapid for someone with my issues and complications.

Yesterday I did my last set of deadlift reps at 110lbs. After lifting increasingly heavy loads for three sets of eight, I still managed to pick up and put down one hundred and ten pounds eight times. I think I've mentioned before that the first time I attemped a deadlift max, I managed to lift 95lbs. I am now doing reps heavier than my previous max. That feels good. REALLY, REALLY GOOD. Also, my callouses are starting to come back, and that helps me feel badass.

My toes-to-bar are looking slightly more like toes-to-bar and less like person-just-hanging-from-bar. My knees come up well past 90 degrees and my increased grip strength allows me to incorporate a bit of momentum on the upswing.

Oh, and speaking of that gentlemen in the above gif, you've seen this, right?

GOOD GOD DAMN what I would give for a time machine (and a lottery ticket) that would allow me to go to SDCC 2013.

I'm just...gonna leave this here.

*MIGHTY DEADLIFT FISTBUMP*

It's awesome when you can warm up with what used to be your one rep max, innit? :-)

Seriously, seriously awesome.

Soon, you'll be pulling 135 (which is one of the big plates on each side) and doing bodyweight reps... hell, by some metrics (EXRX' calculator, for instance)... you might already be able to for a couple:

http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/OneRepMax.html

8 @ 110 suggests 135-140 is possible. :-)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-07-22 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Woohoo!

I'll talk to Andrew about trying for some ORMs in November. I don't want to change what we've got going until after Renaissance Festival is over. SO CONSERVATIVE, I know.

[identity profile] etcet.livejournal.com 2013-07-22 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally understandable. Having a goal in mind, date-wise, for "lift as much as possible during week X" is, to my way of thinking, just as good as "lift Y pounds, period".

I have my own PR Week scheduled for the week before Dragon*Con, which is itself the week before my surgery, so it's go big now, or wait a long fuckin' time.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-07-22 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Small coincidences: Dragon*Con and KCRF opening weekend are the same weekend.

Your dedication is awesome, and even better... RESULTS!!!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-07-22 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I love me some results, FINALLY! Even if I don't think they're quite as visible as I'd like (read: waist measurements are still the same), they're still much appreciated!

Yeay! Calluses!

Glad you're having a good energy day!

(And that last pic... insert "whoop! there go my pants!" gif here)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-07-22 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't a bad energy day at all! I am feeling a little in need of a nap now that it's 2pm, but that's normal.

And yeah, that pic? TELL ME ABOUT IT.

Hooray for badass Clevermanka!

I've been doing some rolling-out and basic maintenance today, and will do more. You're an inspiration.

Also, Hiddles is awesome.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-07-22 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Go, you! Rolling out is hard to knuckle down and just do, but once you get in the habit, I think your body'll really appreciate (and crave) it.

And YES. YES HE IS.

Y'know, with your new LJ subtitle, this icon is a bit ominous....

Tell me about it.

I weigh about 120 right now. You could lift me. Badass.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-07-23 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
YES, YES I COULD. I could even carry you around piggyback with no difficulty. You and [livejournal.com profile] pennswoods are so wee! I'm going to feel like a freaking amazon (in a good way) at 221B Con. All the more reason to seriously consider a Moran cosplay...

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2013-07-23 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I don't think of myself as wee (well, I'm smaller than I was, as of late) but I forget sometimes that you're taller than me. I have a feeling that no matter how much I remind myself that penns is shorter and you are taller, I'm going to be surprised when I meet y'all.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-07-23 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'm about five inches taller than you, yes? I'm 5'7" but everyone always thinks I'm taller. Even people who are standing right next to me. I think it's my posture. That or my overbearing personality. =D

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2013-07-23 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You're bigger than life! :D

Yup. I'm 5'2" or so. I think my license says 5'3", which is accurate if I stand as straight and tall as humanly possible!

GO YOU.

Also, pretty Loki is very, very pretty.

Woo Hoo Me!

ISN'T HE JUST? *fans self*

He's so eminently gif-able.
