Applesauce

Andrew and I talked nutrition on Sunday. He was pleased (surprised? impressed?) by my current diet and had only one suggestion--more simple carbs immediately post-workout. He suggested fruit, but fruit is problematic for me since raw food of any sort makes me feel not-so-great and I've been cautioned against eating it by a few healthcare practitioners. But then I had a wonderful thought: Just make some applesauce!

So I bought several apples, chopped them up, threw them in the crockpot on high for about five hours, and voila, applesauce. I only added some cinnamon before portioning them out into little half-cup containers. I ate one as soon as I finished lifting yesterday. I'm not certain it's helping yet, though, because:

At least it waited until after the Zombie concert.

YEAY!

Indeed!

way to think outside the box though! (on the applesauce, though I suppose your uterus is outside your box as well)

I almost choked on the cherry I was eating.

My work here is done.

For a second there, your LJ-icon made me think of a photo I took of my old Ford Focus Kona Edition:

Then I remembered it wasn't one of my sock-monkeys. MONKEY SOLIDARITY!

Sock monkeys make excellent, and quiet, road trip companions.

Ooh, I've been known to eat the HELL out of some applesauce.

Remind me.. do you eat soaked nuts?

avoiding all possible innuendo here

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-08-07 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! I don't eat soaked nuts. That sounds...vaguely unappealing? I do eat roasted ones, though.

I learned about it from one of the vegan gals. They sprout and then can be ground up for recipes.

Sounds interesting! I'll definitely look into it.

soaked nuts are great!  I am actually surprised they haven't been recommend to you by your dr. because soaking removes tannins and acids and increases enzymes making them easier to digest.   They even work for some people who are otherwise allergic to nuts because of that.

But seeing as they haven't, I will jump in line to recommend them!! :)   the Internet abounds with info that you can peruse on your own because it is pretty much a raw foods diet staple, but I will say that soaked and then dehydrated (to crisp them up) walnuts are delish!!

Hmmmm! I'll ask Dr. Khosh about soaked nuts when I see him Friday. Thanks!

just to get you started!  :)

I'll be curious to hear his opinion of He has one.   All other things being equal, they do just taste good/different.

(er I am on my phone so just bear with any strange words, missing words and random capitalizations!!)

Oh, uteri. You have my sympathies. Mine has decided that a 23 day period is just right for this month. I do hope this isn't a trend.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-08-07 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to have a 22 day cycle. Years of targeted acupuncture and estrogen-regulating supplements have me on a 25-26 day cycle. I'll take it.

[identity profile] solan-t.livejournal.com 2013-08-07 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I have been a pretty steady 26 for a couple... um... okay, about a decade now. I am really hoping this 23 is an anomaly.

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2013-08-08 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
I used to have a 31-day cycle. It has since shrunk to 26. Oh, and my actual period is longer--if you include spotting, like, a week and a half. FML. When I get health insurance I'm thinking of going on a low-dose pill even though I have an IUD, just to shorten the actual period and make them further apart.

*sympathy*

A half-cup of applesauce isn't a serving, it's a sample. :D If I have applesauce in the house I eat it a cup at a time.

Damn. Now I want to bring applesauce to work.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-08-08 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! Lucky thing. For those of us who need to watch our sugar intake (even if it's fruit sugar), a half-cup is plenty. =D

[identity profile] alryssa.livejournal.com 2013-08-08 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Dammit, now I'm craving applesauce.

Also, I will never stop loving that macro.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-08-08 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Go get some applesauce, bb!

Yeah, that macro is fucking perfect.
