After three disastrous attempts with the Mehron body and face makeup last night, I am ditching it and the scar. Fuck it. In fact, I am going to bundle all of it up and return it to Fun & Games tomorrow to make my displeasure with the products known. I might only get a refund for the unopened items, but I want them to know that their products did not work at all as advertised and I am quite put out. The face/body makeup is worthless. Unless I put it on thick enough that it looks like plastic on top of my skin, it's streaky and uneven. It was marginally better on the inside of my arms, but hair and oil (both of which appear in considerable quantity on my face) disrupt the even distribution, even with a makeup sponge.



I'm going to do basic pale/sick makeup (which is easy enough with the palettes I own) and call her done. Here's the mock-up I did last night, which has sdemory's stamp of approval, so that's all I really need.



The vest needed some considerable alterations (I hadn't tried it on since I cut off the sleeves), but those were pretty easy. I made a dart in the front yoke at each shoulder, took up the back by about an inch and a half along the back yoke, and darted the whole back bodice up the middle to make a more snug fit. I don't look so much like I'm wearing football padding now (oh 80s, you and your boxy cut shit). Unfortunately, that didn't leave a lot of room for the sigil on the back, but I'm still going to paint it on there--just didn't have time last night. Baking the vest without the coffee didn't result in a lot of pigmentation, so I'm going to singe it a bit more with the lighter--something else I didn't get to last night because Jesus Christ Mosquitos.

Recent music find! The video is boring (in spite of/because of the special photography techniques they used), but I like the song. Basic bubblegum pop (literally, if you pay attention to the lyrics), so if that's not your thing, feel free to skip it. Spoiler alert: They don't show the destruction of the adorable little Maverick car, so breathe easy.

Yeah, I don't blame him. The video is really bad. I'm sure they were trying to be all Arty And Shit, but the result is tedious and soulless.

Seems about right for a Scorpio woman ;) I do wish they'd have at least used an oily liquid over the windshield so it would be more convincing as gasoline.

Damned makeup fail... but you do look creepily different, so win?

Boo for makeup fail, although your sick/pale mock-up does look very good. I'm sorry you weren't able to get a realistic scar - I personally might go completely the opposite direction and paint or draw on artistic representations of scars, but I don't know that such would work with this costume.

I was thinking kinda like Day of the Dead skull style makeup, where it's very stylized, but then I realized that is definitely the opposite of easy and convenient to apply/re-apply. Did you already have this thing? I hope everything turned out well if you did. :)

It's coming up this weekend. Sugar Skull makeup doesn't really fit either of these characters, though. It's fun (and fairly easy, if time-consuming), but ... not really appropriate for either of the girls I'm portraying.

I totally agree with your take on the vid! I think it's an attempt at coolness, but it is so poorly matched to the song that it just doesn't work at all. The song is super fun!
