I might be okay but I'm not fine at all

And while we're on the subject of meta and analysis for Sherlock!

My post-Reichenbach song for them was Wrecking Ball.

Post Season 3, it's this.

"All Too Well"

I walked through the door with you, the air was cold,
But something 'bout it felt like home somehow.
And I left my scarf there at your sister's house,
And you still got it in your drawer even now.

Oh, your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze.
We're singing in the car, getting lost Upstate.
Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place,
And I can picture it after all these days.

And I know it's long gone,
And that magic's not here no more,
And I might be okay,
But I'm not fine at all.

'Cause there we are again on that little town street.
You almost ran the red 'cause you were looking over me.
Wind in my hair, I was there, I remember it all too well.

Photo album on the counter, your cheeks were turning red.
You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin-size bed
And your mother's telling stories about you on a tee ball team
You tell me 'bout your past, thinking your future was me.

And I know it's long gone
And there was nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough
To forget why I needed to...

'Cause there we are again in the middle of the night.
We dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all too well, yeah.

Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much,
And maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up.
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well.

Hey, you call me up again just to break me like a promise.
So casually cruel in the name of being honest.
I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
'Cause I remember it all, all, all... too well.

Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it
I'd like to be my old self again, but I'm still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone

But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
'Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
You can't get rid of it 'cause you remember it all too well, yeah

'Cause there we are again, when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well

Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it all
Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well

I haven't watched any of it yet so I steered way clear of the meta post. Given the song, it seems like it will likely hurt my heart a bit. I can totally see how this song would fit though.

Yeah, it's gonna hurt. And it hurts in ways you don't expect, which makes it just so much worse.

Completely aside, have you seen the Street Fighter enhanced version of Taylor's odd head-flinging in this performance?

If not, just google "Taylor Swift viciously attacked at the Grammys"

I'm not going to read it because I'm strongly colored by this article on The Toast (http://the-toast.net/2014/02/03/blondeness-semiotics-taylor-swifts-hair/) and I found her hair-flipping/headbanging nothing short of Fucking Awesome. I am so so SO god damned fed up with everyone and their slavering, misogynist dogs railing about these practically teenage girls trying to express themselves.

ETA: Not yelling at you, you know. Right? Just yelling at This Fucking System.

Um.. there's nothing to read. No misogynist slavering dog out to fuck with a 24 year old multi-awarded kickass songwriter.

It's a 28 second gif of her getting kicked by the Street Fighter character in time to her head flings. It's just a silly taking-of-the-piss in a Rickrolled way.

:backing away slowly:

Essay or gif, I'm still testy about it. Sort of how I got angry (tho didn't post about it) regarding all the horrible gifs of Beyonce from last year's Superbowl because GOD KNOWS that female performers owe it to their audiences to be pretty all the time and never make weird faces or sweat or show muscles or, you know, be anything other than a perfectly coiffed, beautiful doll.

It's a touchy thing that I'm touchy about. CAN YOU TELL? =D

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2014-02-03 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)

Sure.
You just might maybe have a bit of faith that I'm not going to point out shit to you that fucks with your hot buttons.

Well, it's not like I announced that was a hot button for me, either.

In retrospect, it would've been good to write about that Beyonce BS back then when it was more relevant.

I thought you did. well, maybe you posted one of them and commented on it.

All that aside for now.. I have chuckled the gif, and not appreciated whatever it was she was expressing, but I hold that she's one amazingly talented songwriter and deserves all the awards that she's accumulated. For being only 24, she's been at this for a decade, and has put her personal shit all out on the line for people to paw through and pick apart, but she's remained classy, IMO, and puts her money where her mouth is as far as supporting other young performers.

I might have said something in person about it, too. Seems like something that would have come up in one of our conversations...

Good song.

I figure most of Miley is the scream "NO MORE HANNAH MONTANA!"

Sigh.
