I just got my notice from Comic Con (the real one, the one in San Diego) that badge registration is from 7am to 9am PST (9am to 11am CST) this Saturday. You know, when I was planning to be at Kansas City Planet Comic Con. Where the panel on Sherlock Holmes starts at 11am.

I'm working with someone else I know because she can buy my badge for me, but if we're both in the queue, we have a better chance of getting in.

I don't get to sign in early. The waiting room where they electronically and randomly queue people for badges is open from 9am to 11am CST and then you find out when/if you got a spot in time to buy one. And in that whole time you can't refresh your screen. So carrying around a laptop or doing it on a phone just isn't gonna happen.

This is all very strange to me. You mean you have to go through all that to get a badge to register for Comic Con in San Diego? Where millions of people go? It's that hard to BUY A BADGE?

YEP.

You have to sign up for a lottery to see if you win a space to buy a badge. I think we talked about this before. I likened it to purchasing a parking pass for a car on campus and how it's basically just a hunting license.
