It's funny because it's true

In other news, I took the day off work because I think I did something to my left foot and it hurts to put weight on it. I have an appointment at noon to see the doctor to make sure it's not something stupid/serious like a stress fracture.

Thinking good foot-thoughts! Is the pain getting better or worse as time passes? Or just the same? (not that I'd know what it indicates; just curious.)

It's been feeling weird for a couple weeks now. Tender and achey in the space between the first and second metatarsals of my left foot. When I was doing my pushups yesterday, I had a lot of weight on my toes (because I can hold myself military-style now instead of on my knees YAY!) and I felt something go POP and then a sharp burning. Then it hurt really bad the rest of the day. This morning it was even more stiff and painful. Sooooo....yeah. I think I just sprained it, but I want to make sure just in case it is a stress fracture.

MY LIFE.

Oh, ouch. That sounds really painful. :( I swear aliens have taken over your body and turned it against you. WE MUST RALLY THE TROOPS.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the aliens who designed my body in the first place were either really shitty engineers or didn't expect me to live past 30 and now everything's just falling apart.

OMG, you just made me laugh in that combination of weird Schadenfreude between friends and complete empathy with the trials of having problems that are unsolvable by normal human standards.

Solidarity, sister.

Ow ow ow ow.
Here's to it being minor.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I sure hope so!

[identity profile] 1-rhiannon-1.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope there's nothing major wrong with your foot! <3

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
You and me, both. I mean COME ON.

[identity profile] 1-rhiannon-1.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? It never rains, it pours. :S

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep.

Thinking gentle thoughts for you and your hurty foot.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! They must have worked, because doc says it's just a sprain.

[identity profile] sherwood21.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, that is good news! I mean, it still sucks, but I'm so glad it's not a stress fracture.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_luaineach/ 2014-04-30 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Not to be debby downer, but when Jet had his high ankle sprain the ortho told him that sprains can quite frequently take *longer* than breaks to heal, because breaks are cut and dried and sprains can suffer no end of continued tweaking and reinjury. That being said so that you are on alert to take care of it longer than you want to, so that you don't end up back at square one!

That out of the way, I'll just chime in with the general SHEESH going on in the other comments! :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, soft tissue injuries take longer to heal than fractures, but I don't have to worry about a cast/boot or hobbling around on crutches. She said moderate stress on it could actually help the healing process since keeping it mobile is crucial.

you are on alert to take care of it longer than you want to, so that you don't end up back at square one

And yeah, that is super good info to have and remember! Thank you for the reminder.

I prefer to think of it as the power of bloody-minded stubborness.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
That, too. And better, really.

[identity profile] msmitti.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to hear it wasn't a stress fracture. A sprain is a pain in the patoot, but stress fractures take forever to heal. Hope your day off is allowing you some foot healing and down time.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! Lots of internetting. I was thinking about doing an art project, but the idea of hauling everything out, setting it up, and then actually painting is exhausting. Plus, a lot of work on my feet.

[identity profile] gansje.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It is not allowed to be a fracture! CM's foot, if you are fractured, stop it!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-04-30 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
IT HEARD YOU!

Doctor says it's just a sprain, possibly some nerve injury, but I'm cleared for continued use. HURRAY!

[identity profile] gansje.livejournal.com 2014-05-01 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
YAY! I should start threatening your adrenals next!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-05-01 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't hurt!

I am enjoying LiveJournal, or at least having a place to post my more intimate stuff. My wife was surprised, during our year apart from each other when we were readying to move back to America (ha! -- sob...) to learn that my Facebook updates showing me having a good time did not actually mean that I was living a happy and satisfied life without her and my kids.

All I post to Facebook is the good stuff. In that sense, LiveJournal is a long-suffering friend.

I am glad you're still here, long-suffering friend!
