The weekend is upon us and I am terrified

Way way way too much to get done in too short a time. I really must get on the stick with the whore costume(s). The skirt is almost done (a lovely olive color that, miraculously, matches all three potential bodice fabrics), but I haven't even purchased linen for the bloomers and chemise. Oh, and I've cut the muslin for the bodice but haven't started to sew it together yet. Maybe this weekend. I did make great progress on a new dance costume, but I've yet to make a final decision on that issue. However, since I feel comfortable making a dance costume (as opposed to a bodice) I've been working on that instead of the bodice. OK, enough about clothes.

Three Friday Five Thingys to choose from and I didn't really like any of them. Although one did have the question Most unintelligbly angry string of words ever heard and that reminded me of a line from a story I read where one of the characters said "The fucking fucker's fucking fucked." Ah, what a versatile word!

A grad student sent me flowers in thanks for doing her legwork delivering her dissertation copies to the graduate school and the KU bindery. She's in South Dakota and coming back to deliver the stuff by today (the deadline for Summer graduates) wasn't possible. A very minimal amount of effort on my part resulted in a lovely wildflower arrangement. I'm not big on cut flowers, but most people don't know that and it was terribly sweet of her to order these for me, so I'm pleased and grateful.

Tonight: Demolition Derby? Or sewing. Decisions, decisions.

UPDATE: Damn! Another graduating student just brought me a thank you card! These damn kids are gonna make me cry.

Gaw-damn! $20??? Well I guess that makes my decision for me. It just figures that I chose to skip the tractor-pull last night and it was free. Sigh.

I certainly hope the costumes come out as fab as they sound. Hope to have pics soon, too!

Tickets for the demo derby are $10, not $20 (unless, of course, you are paying for two).

Still a little pricey since we would be paying for two...and probably dinner beforehand. Blah!

For one at the Douglas County fair, yeah, probably a little. It would be much cheaper (and better for my sanity) if I stayed home and got my work done. If I trip over one more box, the wrenches will start flying...

Heh, wrenches flying....

I'm still considering just standing outside the arena and watching through the fence. Free. But we're heading over soon and will be attending the other fair-ish stuff. Give us a call on our cell(s) if you are heading over, too, and we can meet up for some fair food (heh, double entendre, eh?). Check my locked post for cell numbers.

We are sooo out of touch these days.

Yes, quite. I'm sewing on Tuesday evening if you want to come over for chatting and tea.

YEAH!
Glad to know that Pooch isn't the only grad student that knows and appreciates the office staff. Every secretary day and christmas he gets something (usually small like coffee mugs and cookies) for each of the political science secertaries, and public administration secretaries (as they are on the floor that many of the grad students are on so end up doing some of the polsci work) and the "computer guy" when the dept has them. He signs them "from the Grad students" but none of the other grad students have ever chipped in like they say they will.
