Funny, it doesn't seem like a Tuesday

Cutest. Joke Food. Ever.

For [livejournal.com profile] arian1, my Renfest schedule:
Sept. 11/12: Whoring
Sept. 18/19: Dancing
Oct. 9/10: Whoring
Oct. 16/17: Whoring
I may or may not be out whoring the last weekend of September and first weekend of October. If I do, I probably won't be out both days.

It's been a fairly difficult few days. Personal drama started out the weekend (and we all know how I just love the drama!), then I received news that a friend of mine died on Sunday. She was accepted into a Buddhist nunnery a couple years ago, so I hadn't seen her for a while, but the news hit me pretty hard. She was such a loving, joyful person. It's very sad for those of us still here that her light has passed to another level. I'm super grateful to my fellow whores at Festival for helping me get through the weekend. The activity provided wonderful distraction and emotional/moral support. Sometimes diversion really is the best tactic.

I haven't downloaded the photos yet that I took of myself in the costume, but [livejournal.com profile] verminiusrex has some pics up here. Forgot to get pics of bodice #2. Doh.

Things I must do for the coming weekend: Dismember and revive bodice #1 in an appropriate size. Purchase a timepiece to hang from my pouch. Make a new scarf for "wench games" since I lost mine somewhere. I also need to finish a skirt and bra for the third weekend. Sometime I wouldn't mind learning some of the songs people sing out there (that would certainly be easier than trying to dance at closing gate). But I'm not sure how to learn them since I doubt there are downloadable copies of said songs floating around out there.

Time to get back to work, alas.

UPDATE:
A note to self: If you're going to be involved in a lunchtime banana-eating contest whilst laced in a fairly tight bodice, do so in this order: Banana, then lunch.

While I might have won the battle on that one, I think Mistress Sable won the war. Oof.

Congratulations on your magnificent showing. It was great to see you, and everyone obviously loved you.

Sorry about the drama. The great part about fair is that it's like an ongoing party in which it's possible to put things aside for a while and scream Huzzah at the top of your lungs...

Congratulations on your magnificent showing. It was great to see you, and everyone obviously loved you.

Thanks! I don't know that everyone obviously loved me. I think something would be wrong with the world if everyone loved me. I would say Charlesworth obviously loved me but most everyone else was a bit more subtle. ;>

Nope, I just checked with everyone, and they confirm my earlier assertion.

A bunch of them thought of you as a sister. A carnal, incestuous sort of sister, maybe, but a sister.

Yeah, and that's just the other whores!

Ah...my long lost Spanish sister...I'll help you hold your umbrella any day :)

I am so sorry for your loss. I was proud of you all day on Monday.

trudging onward not so difficult once you get started...it's those first few steps.

*a gentle pounce and a kiss on the cheek*

See you Sunday
Angel, the "Vanilla" One

Must be time for a family photo!

I am so sorry about your friend. It's hard to be the ones left behind, I know.

But I am very glad you had a successful weekend, and that the whores were so supportive. Ah, the great sisterhood of empowered sex workers! .:g:.

Great photos!! I love http://www.ratmanphotos.com/2004photos/kcrf2004/week1/images/IMG_2088_JPG.jpg the most and think it should go on your desk at work. :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-09-07 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
I <3 those bloomers, don't you? What's funny is, after a long day of sitting with my knees apart in various lacivious postures, it was absolute bliss to sit with legs crossed once the gate closed.

[identity profile] breaca.livejournal.com 2004-09-07 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
My dearest Spanish Virgin,
I am truly sorry to hear of your friend. May her light shine on in whatever realm she has entered. May her light always be remembered in this realm.

As for the songs at closing gate, they should be posted on the performers website somewhere. If not on that website, I believe there are links to other sites that have them. www.cobrahq.com/kcrfperformers/
See you third weekend!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/louie_d_/ 2004-09-07 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
yes, the songs are available on the performer's website. Many of the associated audio files only have the first verse and chorus, but the full lyrics are available. It would be really nice if more people could sing Spanish Ladies and the Mermaid.

[identity profile] rowangolightly.livejournal.com 2004-09-08 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
P.S. I've been out there for um, 26 years now and I *still* don't know all the verses to either song. 75 other new ones....but not those.

And yes, dear, my sincere condolences on the loss of your friend. I would not have known from your appearance or behavior; well done indeed. You have such a beautiful smile.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-09-09 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
I would not have known from your appearance or behavior

Thanks. I kept telling myself "Keep your show face on! Show face!" =/ It helped immensely that I was out there with so many wonderful people.

[identity profile] rowangolightly.livejournal.com 2004-09-09 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Gods, yes! Having wonderful support makes all the difference in the world!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-09-07 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. Cielan and I both appreciate the kind words. Thanks also for the links.

My deepest condolences for your friend. It's been a terribly turbulent time all around. Perhaps the coming of autumn will help settle it.

[identity profile] arian1.livejournal.com 2004-09-07 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'll have to send you a copy of a punk version of "Yes! We have no Bananas!" as sung by a guy I know imitating Gilbert Godfried (sp)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-09-07 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
Um, that's ok. No need to send that Really. Honestly. That's quite alright.

*grin*

hUGS AND kisses and hearty condolences, my love.

You were fabulous out there. I'm pleased to say that your healing energy also took care of my back, along with the Percs and the beer, lol.
I'm sorry we missed the Chess Match, but we'll be out there again, we got season passes this year.

J said he was very careful to not be overly friendly with you and give off the wrong vibes. :)
especially at this time in your life.

We have season passes to if you ever want to coordinate going out.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2004-09-09 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Sure! We have just about any weekend free to go (I'll be out for Arabian or whatever it is this year, dancing a bit on Sept 18/19).

And if you're not much into the imbibing thing as we are, we always appreciate a DD for any visits out there ;)

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2004-09-07 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
All the empathy in the world to you on your loss, my friend. You truly survived a trial by fire this weekend, and rose above it all to perform beautifully.

I'll happily take you whatever days you are willing to come play with us...but then you know that, don't you?

D.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. You're about set for some karmic breaks about now, methinks.

Glad to hear the weekend was otherwise a good one.

Chris

You were so absolutely gorgeous!!!! I am so glad that you had a good day, and that you were with that group of people, as they really are amazing.

I am doubly and triply sorry for the loss of your friend. On top of everything else, that had to be so hard to hear. My most sincere condolences!

impressed.

[identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2004-09-08 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
It was a delight to see you smiling on Sunday, and even more impressive to know now that you were doing it while complications fell all around you.

Sorry to hear drama started out your weekend

I'm sorry about your friend, even when you haven't seen someone for a while there is always the assumption that you will again.

Was great to see you at faire, and congrats on the improvement in lip marks.

And a word of advice - don't ever try to out banana eat Andrea

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-09-09 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
