Brought home my portion of a side of beef this morning to discover a catastrophic freezer failure happened a couple days ago. So I have 280lb of thawing meat to deal with over the next couple days. I'm not gonna be around much today.

Oh! And as we were dealing with carrying the BLEEDING MEAT from the garage freezer to the kitchen, a squadron of fighter jets flew over so low it rattled the windows.

Oh noooo, did you manage to save it?

(My neighbour up the hill brought me half a lamb last winter in a bloody sack and I'm still finding random bags of it in the freezer. My top tip: label the damn stuff while you can still tell which body part is which. I'm still learning this countryside business.)

I'm currently in the process of Cooking All The Things, so...so far, yes? I've only had to throw out one thing when a crock pot that I was borrowing died (ha ha ha ha ohhhh technology fuck you).

Half a lamb--that's a nice neighbor! Lamb here is super $$$.

I can't imagine having to cook that much meat all at once O.O

(Lamb is expensive in the shops here, but this is sheep country. Last winter's half lamb came from the field just above my house.)

I sympathize with your emergency cooking! I had to do that once too, but it was just a tiny refrigerator freezer. Still, I ended up with lots of weird food created just to use up inadvertently thawed items.
