What do you mean I'm only human?
I know we're all going to die eventually, but I feel I might expire sooner than anticipated. Being out in the cold and wet yesterday was not good for my embarrassingly fragile body. My quads are stiff and painful, and my lungs feel like they're breathing in acid, not air. Add in an achey throat and sinus pressure on the right side. I have to make an appearance at a friend's cocktail party/acoustic gig tonight, but I think I won't stay for long. I want to bolster myself for this final weekend of faire.
Final weekend. I'm not sure how to feel about that. On the plus side, I will have weekends available for seeing non-faire friends again as well as other domestic goddess-ness. I can't remember the last time I actually cooked a meal. Shameful. On the minus side, I fear the season's end will be the mental equivalent of having a rug yanked out from under my feet. Falling into this group of people was such a blessing. Instant support structure: Just add costume.
Speaking of support, I would appreciate any assistance with moving to my new place. In the next several days I can cart boxes over, but I'm going to need help with the few pieces of large furniture. I'm shooting for a Big Moving Day on Sunday, October 24. I will be moving smaller stuff over on Saturday as well, but I know Sellout is playing Friday and I believe someone is having a party Saturday evening, so I don't expect a ton of volunteers for Saturday. Please email to let me know if you can assist on Sunday, and/or Saturday if you're so inclined. Thank you kindly.
I had more to say, but my brain is jumbled and incoherent. I'm undergoing some bizarre and unsettling mood swings lately. I think they're caused by a combination of several things, not the least of which is the seasonal change into winter that always affects me poorly. Le sigh! I want Indian food.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, when I went out for Chinese food last night with
rougewench,
gamera_spinning,
breaca, and
femfataleatron I got this fortune: "People find it difficult to resist your persuasive manner." Hmmm.
Creepily accurate is my Free Will Astrology horoscope for this week:
The seventeenth-century Pilgrims were religious dissidents at odds with the Church of England. Persecuted for their beliefs, some set sail for the New World in the Mayflower, seeking a sanctuary to practice their spiritual principles in peace. They sighted land after 66 days. A few of them wanted to cruise south along the coast to Virginia, where the English Crown had promised them a grant of land. But the majority overruled them in order to address the most pressing problem: They had run out of beer. And that's why the Pilgrims ended up settling on the first place they saw, the cold, rocky shore of what's now Massachusetts. Upon landing, they immediately built a brewery. This vignette is an apt metaphor for your near future, Aquarius. You, too, will be driven by idealism to seek a haven where you can more purely be yourself, but you will ultimately respond to pragmatic concerns as well.
Oh! Almost forgot (ferret brain). I had a realization yesterday at the JR's all request show. My mother would love this music. Like me, she's an alto, and she loves music that gives her fun harmony lines to sing. So thanks to the Jolly Rogers for helping me check one question mark off my xmas list. I just need to remember to grab the CDs next weekend...someone please remind the Ferret Brain that I need to do that, 'k?
SECOND EDIT: Crap. See what I mean? Complete ferret today. Congratulations to
breaca for getting her name this weekend!!!! Hugs hugs hugs!!!

Just so you know, your newfound support system doesn't go away just because the costumes come off, my dear.
But the end of faire is always bittersweet. Sooooo good to sleep and not have aching feet, thighs, backs, etc....so nice to clean up and pack away all the crap, but another year of magic has passed...and the next round will be different.
It is solely my hope you will choose to come play again next time around.
D.

Just try to keep me away. I'm already looking forward to it.

Does anyone know what day/days they put that on the buffet at India Palace? (Also, there's a Ruchi opening at 15th and Kasold! Ruchi, the most perfect of Kansas City Indian food!)

Kitty is due for a trip to the groomer and then he'll be settling in (I hope) over here.
and one more word:

I always seem to get a bad cold at the end of faire, makes that first weekend a little easier to get through as I usually do not want to go anywhere out of the house, just stay snuggled up in my warm bed.

I've found that costuming also helps socially with events such as conventions, as the lovely
If I can make it out to the RenFest one last time this weekend, I may look for some additional costume pieces. There's a leather vendor that had a 3/4-length leather fighting coat I was drooling over when I was there a month or so ago. I picked up a Spanish-style hat from them and would really really like the coat as well - it's completely open with slits down the sides for easy sword access. But I seem to remember that it was about $175. Oops. Granted, that's not a bad price for the item, but still.

That coat DOES sound drool-worthy!

Though I have engagements during Sunday prime time (about 1pm to 5pm) I would be more than happy to help you move in the morning or afternoon. Alternately, I could do so on Saturday afternoon; I'm a homebody and don't spend much time doing "things," so I have no plans as of now.
Just let me know!

chicken tikka coldweatherah
Who'da thunk that Indian food was right for cold weather? Well, there it is. Perchance tomorrow lunch or later this week?

I have a lunch date for Thursday >G< Former co-worker (yes, the one who's been sending me copies of art I'd drawn for her lo these many years ago). Wow, that'd be, like, two lunch dates in a row! I'm a crazy thing!

drop me a email or call at work 4-0242
but if she could do lunch I would prefer to have just been us two since the last two times I've planned lunch with her it became a group thing and I ended up not getting any chance to talk to her.
Re: chicken tikka coldweatherah
Actually, I figured the same thing afterward, that you two oughta have time to have lunch just the two of you, and I got myself lunch by myself. But the two of us should make a lunch date for some other time!
Best,
Chris

BTW, would you have any desire/need for a 1972 moss/olive green upholstered rock/swivel armchair in a brocade-style leaf-motif fabric? It's in excellent condition, like-new. I saw the item through freecycle, and the lady really wants to get rid of it, I didn't want it, but I thought perhaps you'd be interested, or would know someone who is.
