Time

If the local fauna ever decided to photobomb one of my vacation photos, it would be the best vacation photo ever. I mean, really. That made me laugh out loud.

I got plenty of sleep last night (hurray!) and got up to exercise this morning (hurray!). So it's a much better day today. So far. *cough*

Enough of this positive attitude stuff! Moving on.

Does everyone realize that this weekend we'll be halfway through August? Halfway through August, people. AUGUST! Media Party/Site Day weekend is the 28th and 29th, and then it's All Faire All The Time until October 18th.

EEEEEEEEEEEEE.

And then I'm going out of town the weekend after faire.

And then it's Halloween weekend.

And then it's November/holiday time.

And then I'm forty.

I need to go lie down.

Oh man, and I can hardly hire YOU to dance for You to cheer you up when you turn 40!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea what I'll do for my 40th. So sucky that it's in the middle of winter. Of course, if it was during the summer, when would I have the time? LOL!

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm Spa day? Hot Rock Massage? Weekend somewhere warm?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
God I would love to go someplace warm. Alas, it's the middle of our application season. No vacation for me. =(

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
We'll turn on the fire place and let you hang out all day in front of it. You could even bring Fetish and your home made Snuggie.

[identity profile] bestill.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
DANCE PARTY!

[identity profile] pamelonian.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I would put peanuts on the camera just to attract one of the little critters before I set the timer! Seriously cute!

I used to think it was just summer that went by fast. Every season tends to do that. And every year, and so on...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so trying that peanut thing. If I ever get to go on vacation again. =D

Ahem

[identity profile] wyckedgood.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Lets not rush the end of the month and my bday shall we not? :P

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Wish I could say I had a choice! Augh! I think it's hilarious that you have your birthday in the hot and I have mine in the cold.

Wanna trade?

Oh Yah!

[identity profile] wyckedgood.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That is pretty damn amusing and I say yes. We trade bdays thats awesome!

[identity profile] skyflame.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
At least you'll have plenty to keep your mind off your 40th birthday. :P

For my 40th, I... did not choose well.

[identity profile] grnvixen.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
40 huh? That means I'm old enough to be your mother :).

I suggest a spa day, do something totally indulgent! Maybe we can get cute guys to bring you champagne while you have a mani/pedi :)??

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
*whine*

But then I'd have to go outsiiiiiiide!

[identity profile] grnvixen.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
We could bundle you up? And have you carried by some attractive bimboys? Either in their arms or get you something like a roman litter, with softe fluffy cushions and brocade drapes :)????

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
=D

I think it would be easier to just stay home, order pizza, and watch a movie.

STUPID WINTER BIRTHDAYS.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep.. Here we are, bookending the crazy Holiday Season.

What this town needs is a Spa Come to You service.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
No kidding!

[identity profile] bestill.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
have the cute boys come to your house

duh

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
But then I have to clean up the mess they track in! Ugh. Winter. So nasty on so many levels.

[identity profile] bestill.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Just make a sign asking them to take off their shoes. problem solved. I'll make that for your birthday,

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That is the best photo ever.

Also, that means that it is almost StuDay!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't it? I would love to have a vacation photo like that.

Yay StuDay! Got plans?

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It falls on a Friday, so probably a Christmas party.

*sigh*

I want my birthday in the summer too. I don't know why I don't just celebrate it at the 6-month mark. Friends did that for me once, and it was the Best Birthday Ever.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
We did that for Paul, too, remember that?

[livejournal.com profile] mckitterick and I keep meaning to celebrate our birthdays on July 31. Neither of us get to celebrate our birthdays the way we'd like. Mine's in the winter and his is always during the writing workshop or SF conference. The July 31 incorporates his month and my date, so I thought it was perfect, right?

Except we keep forgetting to do anything.

HA!

For your 40th, for something warm in winter, I recommend the German feuerzangenbowle (probably grossly misspelled that), which is a pot of red wine, warmed on the stove with cinnamon sticks and orange slices, with a sugarcone soaked in rum suspended above it and set on fire so the carmelized rummy goodness drips into the wine. I can't drink reds, but it SMELLS fantastic, and every party we've served it at turned into a lovely evening...T. says it's a German winter happy drink, and even though he's not a fan of sweet and red wine going together, he loves this as a seasonal thing. If you want a more precise recipe, let me know...:)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
If you want a more precise recipe, let me know

AND NOW YOU KNOW.

[identity profile] theoneinblue.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Just texted T. to get the details...will pass them on asap. :)

[identity profile] theoneinblue.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, T. says the recipe is not exact, but here are the approximates:
Ingredients: one box of cheap red wine or the bottled equivalent (because you wouldn't destroy good wine like this)
1 pressed white sugar cone (obtainable at the European Market in Lawrence, T. says)
Bacardi 151
cinnamon sticks
ground or whole cloves
an orange, sliced
orange juice

In stock pot, combine the wine, a few cinnamon sticks, a few whole cloves or ground cloves (to taste), a few splashes of orange juice, and the orange slices. Warm thoroughly on the stove, but don't cook it. Then, in a bowl, pour rum over the sugar cone - the cone should absorb it pretty easily. When the cone is soaked, set it up over the pot and set it on fire, letting the carmelized rum-sugar fall into the pot (this is tricky, because Germans have a narrow little tray with slots in it that the cone sits on to burn and drip, but I think you could rig something with a few flat metal skewers). If it goes out, light it again, and if it needs a splash of rum, spoon some on to make it go again (but not while it's still burning). When the cone has mostly burned down, stir the wine mixture well, and serve. I hope that works for you!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
This sounds amazing! Much more exciting than my traditional mulled wine recipe. I'll certainly be trying it this winter. Thank you!

[identity profile] theoneinblue.livejournal.com 2009-08-13 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Let me know how it goes! And if you can't find the sugar cones, let me know, and I'll send you one from our stash. I think they're called a "Zucker Hut," literally "sugar hat," I suppose because they look like a pointy cap...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-13 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I bet they sell them at Au Marche.

[identity profile] thefox-rb.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll dance for you for your bday. *tee hee*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Bow-chikka-bow!

[identity profile] bestill.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel that way about the whole year since I mainly worked on my book. Now I'm done and wondering what happened to the Spring and Summer . . .

That photo is hilarious!

P.S. I fear I'll never see you again now that the Ren Fest will be starting soon!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. Things are getting pretty busy for me.

Depending on [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick's plans for Saturday, though, I might be free to meet you at Replay. I'll let you know.

[identity profile] bestill.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool--if you come to the Replay, you can meet my new special friend, whose name is also Chris.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool! I'll let you know. My whole Saturday is up in the air right now.

[identity profile] chronovore.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Photobomb is a new site for me. Thanks!
