That's a big bunny

Although [livejournal.com profile] ellen_datlow didn't designate it as such, I immediately recognized this rabbit for what it really is: The Black Rabbit of Inlé! Although, I admit, a fairly docile Black Rabbit of Inlé...

Last night we undertook a harrowing drive to KC to catch the local production of Evil Dead, The Musical. It was good. It would've been better if the singers had been either 1) personally miked, or 2) stronger singers. The ceiling mikes weren't doing much and I missed a lot of the sung lyrics. The acting was good, though, and in some cases, great. The woman who played the sister was perfectly over-the-top. If she could have literally chewed the scenery, she would have. This was opening weekend, so you've still got time to catch it if you want to.

Twice on the way there I decided that we were turning this car around and calling the evening a loss. But the first time we missed our exit and the second time it started to clear up just as we prepared to turn around. So we braved our way through and made it safely to the theater. Getting home was easier, but it still took us nearly half again as long as it would have on dry roads. Very unnerving. I hate being on the road when driving conditions are dangerous.

My finest moment of the evening was unseen and unappreciated when I waited ten minutes for the guy at Will Call to fix his printer so I could get my tickets. He finally got things working and I smiled and said "Four tickets for Ash, please." He found me in the computer, printed the tickets and said "Enjoy the show," with no hint of understanding. Tragic.

I had grand plans for going out to lunch today but decided that venturing out in this icy rain shit is not happening. So that's a little disappointing. Not sure what I could cook to make up for not going to Aladdin or Teller's. Perhaps four or five mimosas will ease the sting of that particular loss.

Hee hee hee. So you got to see it. Yay!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
And the women's voices didn't make my teeth ache. Double yay!

Mimosas are the only thing we are missing! We'll have to move straight to cocktails. ;)

Glad the show was fun!

I'm making some pork rib stew, but it I'm still missing my Sunday brunch out on the town, I tell you what.

So the show is at Union Station! I sure would like to see it. I canceled my aikido class due to the weather. I still have to venture out to get groceries, but that can't be helped.

4 tickets for Ash... Puleeeaaaze!

I will be easing the sting of loss with some cocktails today, as well.

Booze all around, baby.

I think you'd like the show. Fifth row up is safely out of the splatter zone, FYI.

[identity profile] pamelonian.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Egads! There's a splatter zone?!? Thanks for the heads-up!

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Let me tell you, most of those who got in line early chose - chose! - the first couple of rows. During particularly bloody scenes, some of them begged to be bled upon. Freaks. It was awesome.

I hope to be seeing it next week end.

"Four tickets for Ash, please." (giggle)

"Four tickets for Ash, please." (giggle)

I know, right?!?!? Man. Talk about a dead audience.

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Four tickets for Ash, please."
I even got this.

OMG monster bunny!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I even got this.

I was so sad that the ticket guy didn't. I mean come on. *sigh*

[identity profile] charmed-art.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you guys stuck it out, it was great to be there with you! Glad you got home safe.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you made if safely! The weather was even scarier yesterday.

[identity profile] charmed-art.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
We did fine, but it indeed was gross.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like quite the riot!

I curled up w/ tea and Jamesons. All else was massive weather fail.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The show was very good!

The mimosas did not make up for not getting to go out to lunch. I wasn't prepared for eating two meals at home yesterday and wound up not eating enough. It's going to be a hungry day today. =(

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh dear.
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around "wasn't prepared .. and wound up not eating enough" because it seems to me that we have too much food at home. My little grocery-shipping man, you know? :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The weather yesterday killed all my food-gathering plans.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh. It was horrid, and a great deal more snow than I expected.

Darn, if we lived in the neighborhood I'd have had Jbird run over some of the chicken "chili" I made yesterday.

[identity profile] bestill.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that rabbit is bigger than my dog!

Glad you made it to KC and back safely. I'm ready for winter to be OVER. Even Ruby was slipping around on one of our walks yesterday.
