And, I've probably said this before, but I'm feeling exhausted and run down and just DONE today (you know that feeling) and want to say: I like that you always make it so your links always open in a new tab.
I intend to rest this weekend. However, it is OUR babysitter's last weekend with us before she goes to Houston for her new job so it will be a maudlin and emotional weekend as well. I mean, it's been five years and you know I drag that girl everywhere with me and Jet. I'm glad for her new adventure but boo! as far as it relates to *me*!
Today is my last day at this nanny job and it is a short day on top of it which is probably adding to my mood -- today is the mom's last day at work so they are having a goodbye luncheon for her at a brewery nearby which starts at 2. So, I'll take the baby there to meet them all at 2 and then get out of their as quickly as I graciously can. So, KNOWING it is only a few hours has me all "baby schmaybe, get me the fuck out of there already!!!"
(This week I also did two extra long days -- staying to put the baby to bed at 7 -- so THAT is adding. I'm just done and need to be in my hoooooOOOOOOOoooome!)
Ooof. Yeah, I know how attached you are to that sitter. Hard one, indeed.
Wish you could jump in a transporter machine and do relaxing crafty stuff with me this weekend. I've got less than two weeks to pull this costume together and I've got no accessories yet.
I think it'll be a lot more appropriate for the coat, definitely. I still like the other one better for bloomers. Also, I came up with the awesomest idea for the forty bajillion buttons this thing needs. Time consuming, but tres inexpensive.
Well, you know how expensive shank buttons are and how impossible it is to find a large number of the same one. But sew-through buttons are so cheap and available in dozens!
So, just make little yo-yo applique things and before closing them up, stick the sew-through button in there to give it some stability. Then use the gathering thread used to pull together the yo-yo to sew it to the garment. It seems a really obvious solution, now.
If you can't find what you need for what you can afford, find what you can afford and make it into what you need! =D
Yes, fabric yo-yo in some sort of complimentary color. I have some of those Clover yo-yo makers (http://www.clover-usa.com/products/268066/Yo-Yo_Makers), which I absolutely love. I desperately want the cloverleaf shape one, but I can't find anyone locally who carries the novelty shapes. Just the circles.
The coat itself is sort of a dark peachy copper orange brocade with a gold and green pomegranate motif. I lined it in a blueish green linen that brings out the green in the brocade. I'm thinking dark brown buttons will really pop.
The waistcoat I wear with it is light brown and copper and sports dark copper buttons with a black debossed pattern.
Yep! Well, two borderline steampunk costumes. I think both will pass the sdemory approval test, which means they're sort of blasphemous to the standard steampunk canon. =D
And hurray for Cheeptrims getting it out the door! I was just about ready to give up on their customer service, but this certainly boosts them back up in my opinion.
I'm pretty excited. I revised/revamped some of the themes of the costume (although the major clothing articles are staying the same). I think you'll like it!

Gotta give him credit,
Hope you can rest up over the weekend. You don't have to nanny on Saturday/Sunday, do you?

When I first saw the name of that business, though, I read it is Cheetahprims.
