Vanity
We braved two blocks of downtown yesterday after brunching at Aladdin Café, whose lunch buffet I successfully navigated for the second time while on Whole30 (fattoush, baba ganough, and shawarmah chicken--GO!). Enticed inside by The Etc. Shop's multiple SALE! signs, I found two pairs of My Favorite Sunglasses, which I've worn since 1996 (two pairs, same style) on sale for $10 each. I snapped up the last two pairs since I figure this means either the style is being discontinued or the store isn't carrying them anymore. In any case, I've got the next two decades covered as far as sunglasses go.

I. Love. These. Sunglasses.
Because I haven't noticed how shitty I feel for a couple weeks, I'm going to take that as an indication that the Armour thyroid medication is working well. It's after two o'clock in the afternoon and I don't have the overwhelming need for a nap today. That's pretty awesome. I've even had enough energy to do my exercises after work the past couple weeks. Amazing! Whole30 continues to go well. Last night I made coconut-crusted chicken breasts, zucchini noodles with sun-dried tomatoes, and the butternut squash puree (again). Man that butternut squash puree is good. Good thing, since I'm not used to cooking chicken breasts (I'm more of a thigh girl) and they came out a little dry. The puree was Very Necessary. Overall, things are going well on the body front, but I'm having a hard time not stepping on the scale. It's so tempting to want that Validation of Progress, but weight lossisn't shouldn't be my goal here. What I need to do is get my food and thyroid issues under control. Vanity should take a back seat to that. Right? I just wish I wasn't putting vanity in the back seat so close to my KCRF bellydance gig.

Keep focusing on it's not about the weight and thus not about the scale and you'll go go go!
I caved to the urge to use a pee stick today since I was craving free, despite beer yesterday, and actually ate my tuna without the mental battle I usually have in the beginning... and I was way into ketosis so GO ME, I might be back on track.

Maybe I should pick up some keto-stix this evening on my way home from yoga. That would be not only validation, but a good way to track not necessarily how much fat I'm losing, but if I am losing.

I'm addicted to those sticks and this is the first time i've tried one in months because I just *felt* like I was right with myself, and I was!
Just read that squash recipe and OMG SOUNDS GOOD. What is the consistency?

I'm totally stepping on the scale because until I'm in a healthy weight range again, weight is a big part of it along with not constantly craving bread or cookies.

Suave recently discontinued my favorite conditioner (which I use by the bucketful), so while I was very pleased to be able to buy armloads of the stuff at super cheap, now I have to face up to finding a new conditioner in about 6 months. Woe! If only a bottle of conditioner could last a decade at a time. :P

If I may make a recommendation for conditioners, I love Giovanni 50:50. The shampoo and the conditioner are faboo. No sodium laureth sulfate, no parabens, no silicones.

Mine has completely failed and I've resigned myself to trying it again sometime when I'm not such a wreck.
And perhaps getting your body bits under control - vanity will follow naturally on it's own course....

I am glad Whole30 is going well for you, too! I may have to do the Aladdin buffet this weekend myself! It is sounding mighty tasty, and it's been entirely too long.

Of course you would come up with the perfect analogy. That's just...sublime. Mwah!
