Oil and egg

I made another batch of life-changingly excellent mayonnaise last night. People, this stuff is The Shit.

In less happy cooking news, my rotisserie oven isn't working. I discovered this weekend that the oven only works on the highest heat setting (the rotisserie chicken option). And also, one of the holes for the skewers has stripped, which makes using the rotisserie option Very Hazardous. I filed a customer service email request, and am waiting to hear back. Sadness.

The morning bone-broth drinking is going quite well. I'm starting to appreciate the flavor. I wonder if chicken bone broth has similar qualities to the beef bone broth. Chicken bones don't produce quite the stink as cow bones. Perhaps I'll do a bit of research on that today. Edit: Yes, chicken broth appears to have many of the same health benefits. I'll try switching to that next week.

Is anyone else getting really fucking tired of this weather? It's May for godssake, and I still haven't unpacked my summer clothes. Climate change for the lose, for real.

Thanks for the tip!

*noms caper-enhanced, delicious-mayo-consecrated tuna salad*

I had tuna salad for lunch, too! =D

Mmmmm. Good mayo is good.

It is DELICIOUS.

Freeze warnings in May are just wrong. After the days in the 90s, I turned off my heat and I refuse to turn it back on again. I am sure that means this continuing cold weather is all my fault.

[livejournal.com profile] mckitterick keeps turning off the furnace, too. You optimists are killing us.

For as little as I refer/defer to Jbird's folks, his dad is right about local weather... it can freeze right up to Mothers' Day, so nothing new in the ground until then. After that, we're pretty safe, barring Very Unusual Weather.

The oven thing is One Big Boo! WTF!

I'm doing the duckfat mayo today, hell or high water. I hope to report Total Awesomeness. I realized it should be easy-peasy with a stick blender.. you think?

Well, Mother's Day is Sunday, so maybe I'll get my clothes out next week. *crossing fingers*

I recommend against the stick blender, since it won't blend all areas equally, and you'll wind up with bits of oil and water that aren't emulsifying together. Result, a broken emulsification and a very ugly mayo.

Ah, thanks!

Okay, it's the teeny cup in the processor then.

I HAD MY HEAT ON EARLY THIS MORNING.

MY HEAT. IN MAY.

I know.

We are Not Amused.

Intersting: According to The Weather Channel, today's high is average, but the low (37°F) is way below the average low (52°F). But starting tomorrow night, the forecast is for 50s at night!

It's cold and rainy in Nashville too, if that makes you feel any better...

Poor thing. We've got sun today, at least. Maybe it'll stick around until you get home.
