Ride ride pony tonight
I really want to go club dancing. I wish ConQuesT still had an evening dance.
mckitterick said "Well why don't you organize it?" My response was something along the lines of...

Maybe next year. *shrug*
Over the weekend we watched Natural Born Killers, which I'd never seen before. Yeah,
mckitterick was pretty surprised, too. "This just seems like your type of movie," was his comment. Whatever. Geez. I have to admit, it was. Like Boogie Nights, or Clockwork Orange, it's one of those movies that has so much to say, and is amazingly well done, but it's so stressful. I'm glad to have seen it, but I don't know that I'd be up for a second viewing anytime soon.
I've been listening to Lady Gaga's YouTube channel the past couple days, since the whole new album (or pretty much) is available for listening. While I'm still firmly in the Hate Camp for "Born This Way," many of the album's songs are things of beauty. "You and I" is a damn fine song for real*. But for hysterical nuttiness, I've yet to find lyrics to beat "Highway Unicorn." Oh My God that is some funny shit, there, people. And danceable!
Wanna go dancing.
* Update: So is "Edge of Glory." Fucking awesome song.

I hated the "Born this Way" video. I REALLY am not interested in seeing childbirth of anything.

You don't get them. Hence "hysterical nuttiness." You just let them roll over you and delight in the sound of the words put together. Like most Duran Duran songs.

Count me in the surprised camp for NBK. Woody Harrelson is my favorite mean guy, although he did an amazing sad blind man in Seven Pounds (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0814314/).
Seven Pounds is a thing of beauty, but in a whole different way, the "bring tissues", this is eerily beautiful way.

Chola or Orient-raised? Really? Really really?
But, yeah. It's not a conventionally "good" song, and she's good enough at making conventionally good pop music that it's sort of a wash.

Have you heard "Judas," "Bloody Mary," and "Black Jesus?" *eyeroll* She's taken the Madonna thing way too far and I hope she gets it the fuck out of her system with this album, already because (as
The songs that aren't contrived and insulting, though, are fantastic.

Haven't heard much else from the album yet, as I have enough other music to listen to (Raphael Saddiq's "Stone Rollin"? FANTASTIC. GET IT NOW. Guitar-driven retro-soul that doesn't sound contrived.) Need to give it a listen soon, though, as it's sitting in the queue.
I actually like the video, largely because I like Rick Genest, Thierry Mugler's new model. It's a mess, though, and a less occulty mess than her other videos... which makes it less fun for me.
So, what's your costume this year?

....okay, just listened to that song you recommended, and that was, indeed, fantastic. Also, holy shit that woman in the video.?

Sweet Shrieking Gaga
That said, the Jesus shit really isn't bothering me as much as I expected it to. Gaga and Madonna are both Catholic girls from Italian families, I suppose it's bound to happen. "Black Jesus + Amen Fashion" does have a pretty rad synth bass line to recommend it, and I love the rock & roll screams in "Bloody Mary," which are handy for those moments during which we need someone to step in for Roger Daltrey. ;)

I still don't like "Born this Way," and I am not crazy about "Marry the Night," and there's another song called "The Queen" that's on the bonus track version that I tend to skip, but otherwise, I love the album. (I remember never being overly fond of "Paper Gangsta" from The Fame, so this has happened before.) I LOVE the songs "Scheiße," "Heavy Metal Lover," "Edge of Glory," and "You and I." I have also found that I have a personal relationship with "Judas."
