La dolce vita

Yesterday was a good art day. Today is going to be a good drinking day. Tomorrow I have a make-up acupuncture appointment.

My delts and pecs are a little sore from yesterday's punching. I plan to loosen them up with moar punching today (which will, I hope, not re-open the scab on my right hand).

I read my email, f-list, and a very nice due South story while drinking a cup of coffee. Coffee.

One thing I am not going to think about is the fact that [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick bought me an iPod as an early xmas present, and I spent two hours yesterday trying to rip a CD to it. What I am doing wrong, I cannot fathom (well, besides my first error in purchasing an Apple product). I even tried some alternative software (Songbird). No go. But not even Apple products can bring me down today.

Today is a happy mood day.

Life is good.

what kind of iPod? are you using iTunes on your computer?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It's an iPod classic. Touch screens and I don't really get along, and since the Classic one didn't come with all the bells and whistles, it was by far the best option.

I'd rather not use iTunes if I can avoid it. When I installed it, it took me to the iTunes website, which demanded a credit card number. I have no plans to purchase anything from iTunes, and even if I did, I'd give them my number then. Not now.

So, yeah. I'm trying to find alternate music management software.

[identity profile] miischelle.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
iTunes just came with my Mac so....some kind of management software is probably necessary? With mine I put my music on my computer, and from there transfer it to my iPod. I've never heard of transferring the music directly to the iPod....surely there must be some FreeWare out there?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, management software is necessary. There is freeware out there, but the first one I tried kept freezing up. Going to try something called Mediamonkey next, on the suggestion of an acquaintance, but not today.

Today is more art, more punching, and afternoon drinkies.

Woohoo! I love a good day. =)

Me, too!

Oh, and HOORAY COFFEE!!!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
For. Real.

[identity profile] e4q.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
alright. before we go any further, i need to know about due south. is this something that is worth watching from the beginning? there seems to be a good handful of series.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Unequivocally yes.

Here is one LJ-er's love song to the show (http://ariastar.livejournal.com/560064.html). There really aren't any spoilers, since she's trying to sell people on the show. It's a good sell.

[identity profile] e4q.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
well, that certainly makes at least two of you! maybe i will give it a whirl.

i am currently chomping through 'heroes'. much of which, for the second time. oddly, i seem to have seen seasons one and three before but not two. i am about to start S4, which i presume i have seen some of since i remember some storyline, but think i might have stopped watching part the way through.

misswyoming has sent me the first two series of 'six feet under' which, again, was something i watched some of, but it was so long ago i'm enjoying it anyway.

What is the iPod format? MP3? MP4?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
You're asking the wrong person.

[identity profile] purpledumbass.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
An iPod should be able to play MP3 or MP4, in addition to several other formats. By default, I think iTunes encodes in AAC format though.

Myself, I'm not familiar with other methods of getting music on an iPod. I always use iTunes, myself. And, having created an Apple account, I didn't need to give it a credit card number. They might have changed that particular policy though.

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe the credit card thing is something they do to piss off non mac users? Just saying.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That wouldn't surprise me at all.

[identity profile] tama-grey.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Woohoo! Hooray for good days!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! It was fantastic! Here's to another one!
