Bits and pieces
Normally, Jezebel drives me bugfuck insane. I just...I just can't with them, 90% of the time. This article, though? This article is the shit. It is, in fact, the shit while being utter and complete bullshit. A powerful one-two punch that'll hit any feminist or progressive person right in the--well, where it counts.
All in all, more than half of the BBC's "Faces of the Year: Women" are rape victims, princesses and thereabouts, or bears.
Nice.
Why did I never think about doing this exact thing until after I discovered my gluten issues. You guys this universe fucking sucks.
I need to stop making Sinfest-related icons. I think I have nearly as many Sinfest icons as I do actual icons of me. But the last panel of today's comic? Come. On.
This is a little late for xmas, and I know most everybody's seen it already, but it still makes me laugh out loud. Or at least snort out loud.

Okay, I really gotta get back to work, now, but damn. I'm about to short out, here, and it's not even nine o'clock. I'm learning/making up a new system for processing the applications again--I know, I did this last year, too, and will probably do it all over again next year until KU has a stable system in place for electronic applications. Which, yeah, ha ha, right? But I'm hoping we've got at least a standard set for the 2014 application cycle. Sweet Mary Mother of God. 2014. Anyway, this business of migrating everything over to the new system step-by-step is necessary, but god it's exhausting and time consuming because I can't establish a rhythm or get into a groove. Difficult to explain, but this sort of thing is really hard for someone who takes a long time to establish neural pathways and then has a difficult time letting them go.
Some day I should write a post about the way I learn things and why I've never considered myself very intelligent, although I am very wise and clever/quick-witted. And yes, I am totally using a Dungeons & Dragons metaphor to describe myself. What.

I seriously thought they were being facetious about drag kings.
You have to admit, it would have been even funnier my way.

Considering the article was more tragic than funny, that wouldn't take much. *sigh*

Socialites and animals, charming.
ETA: Oh, once more a Jezebel writer has gone off the deep end of being offended, it's not "Women of the Year" for what they did, it's "Faces of Women in the News" (http://shine.yahoo.com/work-money/outrage-bbc-chooses-panda-2011-female-face-165900859.html).
I feel misled.

I still have to laugh about the article, though. It's Faces of Women, in the news, and it wasn't Pippa's *face* that made the news this past year.
