The wall had it coming

Another awaketime! at 3:30 this morning. Today I gave up the fight and got up. Yesterday's insistence on staying in bed did not do kind things for me at 6:30 when I absolutely had to get up for work. So far I've managed to tidy up the sewing room as much as possible (can't really make a lot of noise until [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick wakes up), read LJ, correspond briefly with another poor soul awake far too early, and get an extra hour or two of coconut oil conditioning on my hair before washing.

I'm starting SRS BZNS research for the Sherlock and Watson coats. Oh, typical life, I think I'm going to enjoy making Watson's coat a lot more. It's just so funky! All those textures and patch pockets. I love patch pockets. If anyone else is doing research for a Sherlock costume, this website is the bomb for giant reference pics. I mean giant reference pics. Really nice.

Also Really Nice is the fact that [livejournal.com profile] msmitti is looking forward to her Watson as I am my Sherlock. Very Happy Making! I am hoping that our Moriarty is half as excited as we are. I am also kind of hoping that our Moriarty decides to go with the silver/gray suit so that we have a bad guys in light/good guys in dark dynamic going on. Also, I am a little worried that we are going to be Too Much Dark as a group, so I've decided against the purple shirt of sex and am going to go with the white. It's a pity, because I found (and purchased) a perfect purple women's fitted oxford at a consignment store last week. Ah, well. I always can use more oxford shirts in my closet.

Yesterday, the second-to-last day of my elimination diet, I swelled up so bad it was laughable. I had to unzip my skirt (thank god for side zippers and long un-tucked blouses) and it was still riding up to my ribs. I looked pregnant. So frustrating.

This morning, what with yesterday's physical discomfort/disappointment and last night's lack of sleep, I decided to hit the Fuck It Button and I made myself some damn coffee. It's delightful. I think I shall resume having coffee, but just on the weekends. That'll make my Only Locally Roasted and Organic Expensive Coffee Habit a little more reasonably affordable, anyway.

I have no idea what to do for the next four hours or so until I can expect [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick to wake up.

Note to self: When you have access to photo editing software and something other than this netbook (and a spare fifteen minutes or so), make a Sherlock icon for the costuming posts.

Update: It's a good thing I don't scare or startle easily (except by arachnids). I got up to shower, and noticed something crawling on the floor. A nearly two-inch long (non-arachnid) thing with many many many legs crawling on the floor. I said "Oh, great," grabbed a glass and a piece of paperboard, and now it's trapped until [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick wakes up so he can 1) see this motherfucker, and 2) open the door for me to throw it out. I should also maybe get a photo of it for the Schendel guy. Whom I'll be calling on Monday because I pay a lot of money to keep our house free of this sort of thing.

If that was a centipede, those freak me out the way arachnids do you. I admire you for not squashing it immediately. If I see one, I can't stop myself. *Squish!* Is Schendel the name of an individual or a company? While my cats dispatch most of the invaders, I am seeing more of them lately in my house.

Yeah, Schendel is the exterminator service I use. I love them. I pay approximately one dollar a day for a year's subscription, which means I can call them anytime to ask them for a house spray--inside and out. It's sometimes a tricky little dance to find a time to be home for Jim (my Schendel guy), but so worth it to be free of the little monsters.

I have no truck with insects living in my house.

The stuff they use for the house interior is entirely pet-safe, too.

That sounds like a long-legged centipede (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scutigera_coleoptrata); they have lived in bathrooms in some of my family's previous homes. They are benign, but freaky.

sometimes we find *just the legs* on the bug traps at work. The beasties break free from the sticky traps somehow. Yuck.
