Irrational fear

People like this make me think I should revise my standard "insert earbuds and ignore humanity" approach to air travel.

Yesterday I killed a spider that was crawling up the wall of my workstation. Just thinking about it creeps me out, now. It took everything I had to actually kill it, and once the thing was dead, I didn't have sufficient will to clean the carcass off my mouse (yes, I used my mouse to smash it--what?). I was just spent. Our student assistant was (luckily for me) still in, and she took care of it for me. Bless her heart. God. Spiders. shudder

I just discovered another big selling point for the Avengers movie. Check out Tony Stark's new car, kids:

This movie was made specifically for me. We've got fights, explosions, and effects, what looks to be a kickass female fighter, some thinly-veiled homoerotic subtext with Robert Downey, Jr. (a selling point all on his own), and now, this car. I mean come on. It's like they had a fucking checklist or something. Chernobyl Red Movie Kinks: Let Me Show You Them.

One thing: if Joss Whedon kills either of my favorite characters, I will hunt him down and kick the motherfucking shit out of him I am not even kidding. There is precedent for Captain America dying you guys, and I might be maybe seriously a little worried about this.

Crossfit update!

I had my second Elements class last night and wow. That was educational. We started out doing lunges with a medicine ball held overhead and I could not do a single damn lunge on my left side. I could get down, but no way was I getting back up. I tried three times and Just No Way. I went over to one of the trainer guys and explained that I'd been having pain/weakness issues in my left hip for several months and could he suggest anything to help. He took me aside and spent forty minutes working with me--just me--on my squats. Which, apparently, I have been doing wrong for, oh, my entire life. I've always known that I had weak and tight hip adductors, but they're worse than I ever believed. We worked and worked and worked on me pressing my knees out as I squatted and stood, squatted and stood, squatted and stood for probably close to fifty squats over half an hour. Once he showed me what I was doing wrong and how to correct for it, it made so much sense! Doesn't make it easy to fix, but at least I know how. He said he'd be shocked if this didn't completely cure the bursitis/hip pain I've been dealing with since, what? June?

He was very impressed with my shoulder mobility, and I didn't get to do a damn thing with my shoulders besides practice my push press with a PVC pipe like three measly times because he said I was a natural at it and we went back to working on my squat. Hmph.

CAR LUST!!!

Heck the standard ain't bad neither! (http://headblitz.com/the-5-best-debuts-at-the-2012-detroit-auto-show/)

This will likely be a theater flick for us, too.

Yeah. Totally seeing this one in the theater. Considering trying to hit an opening night show. That might be a little much for me, though. But maybe!

HAHA!
I dunno, opening nights make my teeth itch when they are midnight shows, but maybe if we can get into the fancy-pants flickhouse showing, I'd go to an early one. Hafta watch movieline closely.

That is one sexxy... Acura. Whoah.

"Chernobyl Red Movie Kinks: Let Me Show You Them" - LOL!

I'm a little disturbed by the image of exploding ovaries.

I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once.

Heh heh.

Wow, CrossFit is sounding more and more awesome each time you talk about it. Hmm.

The Crossfit Culture aspect, while off-putting when I first read about it, has completely won me over. I don't know if it's like this at every single Crossfit box, but damn the Lawrence group is super awesome.

omg, the airplane woman. :O I'm imagining the queue of people waiting to pee while she's in there jacking off with the camera.

Boy, did you get lucky with the trainer!! It's just nice to get so much attention, and to get instruction on how to do things right. I find body-stuff particularly difficult to learn.

I'm imagining the queue of people waiting to pee while she's in there jacking off with the camera.

GOOD POINT. I hadn't even thought of that.

I got so lucky with this gym. Man, my last trainer was a complete douche-hat. This is just a whole different world.

[identity profile] poincaraux.livejournal.com 2012-04-14 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent! And I'm glad to hear the squat story. If I only get a chance to do one thing in a gym, it's squats. I can't think of a better single exercise.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-14 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I was really worried--what with all the info I was getting from various doctors--that I'd never be able to do squats again.

YAY FOR MY CROSSFIT TRAINER GUYS!

My theory

[identity profile] gamera-spinning.livejournal.com 2012-04-13 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I would bet that Steve Rogers is making it out of The Avengers, especially because he's got a movie coming out in 2014 (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1682593/captain-america-2.jhtml).

However, I will be surprised if Agent Coulson, a character I really enjoy, survives. I don't have any secret spoilers or anything, but that's my gut instinct.

Oh, well, that's a relief, anyway!

I don't have any secret spoilers or anything, but that's my gut instinct.

Wouldn't surprise me at all.
