Me, me, me

A personal goal for me: Bhujangasana, the full completed pose shown in the second photo. I used to be able to do this, so I know it's possible for me. Just a small goal to reach before I dance at RenFest this fall. I would love to do this with a sword balanced on my chin. Talk about a killer photo op. I have a photo of me in this pose, only with my upstage arm reaching towards the sky (and no sword) and it's very cool. So. New goal.

This says something about me: We had the house cleaned on Tuesday (thank maude that [livejournal.com profile] 0verdrive's mom manages a housecleaning company or I'd be sunk). When I went to bed last night I realized that Sunday night, after giving it a good cleaning (ahem) I had left my vibrator out to dry overnight. And still hadn't put it away. Oops. It was nice to realize that my initial response however, was not embarassment, but just "eh" followed by a mental note to put it away in the morning.

And finally, a general rant: Stupid and/or selfish people really annoy me. There is a secretary in this building (not in English) who won a Classified Employee of the Month award this last year. But she did not win the Employee of the Year (announced yesterday). I found out this morning that she spent the whole day yesterday crying (literally) about how she was a loser and poor pitiful her and maybe begin nasty tone here if she was Black (like the woman who won) she might have had a chance. My god, what is wrong with people? That's just sick. What is this? 7th grade class president elections? Cripes. I saw her this morning (Pitiful Woman, not Winner Woman, who really is very nice) and I wanted to call out "Good morning, loser!" But I didn't.

Oh yeah, news note: They finally sheared that sheep. Poor sheep. I bet he feels a lot better now. Nearly 60 pounds of wool on him! Crazy.

Bhujangasana--all that with a sword on the chin, and, well...I know I'd be agape. Probably be too distracted to work the camera, really, and just stand there going "Uh, wow!"

Secretariat...I'm proud of you that you didn't call out "Good morning, loser!" It's so unsubtle, after all. Instead, you can go around saying things like "I seem to have lost my pen, have you seen it?"

I think it's really cool that a television audience of millions tuned in to watch the sheep get sheared. Better than "The Swan"!

"I seem to have lost my pen, have you seen it?"

HA HA HA! That's classic.

I missed seeing *that* pic of you, must be faboo!

I'm ready to simply be able to balance my swords again, hehe. Yes, I'm ready to start dancing and costuming and beading again. Let's go!

and leaving your bath toy out? aww, that's just too cute for words when it's one like *that*.

I'll dig it out next time you're over. Yeah, it's pretty stellar. It's on that great stage we had over by the chapel, so the floor was nice and smooth.

Hurray on Dancing Roya!!!! Wheee! Yeah girl, bring it on! I'm psyched to make some new stuff for me, too.

Yeah, ain't that little guy just the cutest? Love it.

That pose look so cool!

Hey, do you know if yoga is hard on your back at all? I have an incredibly bad lower back, and am wondering if it would be a good thing for me to work on. I am reaaaally muscular, but could sure use being stretchier.

p.s. want photo of you with sword balanced. ;)

Erm. LOOKS so cool. Blurrp blurp. Must have more caffeine...

Yes, I think anyone can benefit from yoga--properly practiced. If you have a good teacher, s/he will never encourage you to go deeper into a pose than is good for you. As my teacher says "Wherever your body wants to go (in a pose)is the right place to be." You might look for an instructor who encourages students to respect the spirituality of yoga. I think these instructors are much more likely to look at yoga as a slow journey, not a destination--but that's just been my experience.

When you try out a class, look to see if the instructor works with individual people and pays attention to different abilities. For instance, my instructor knows that I have a very bendy spine and hip flexors. So she's always eager to show me ways to stretch even more in those ways. But she knows I can't stand to have pressure on my head, so she finds alternatives to headstands for me while everyone else in class happily prop themselves upside down.

I love my yoga and recommend it to anyone. The trick is finding a good teacher who will work with you.

She got #%*(@Q employee of the month - out of all the people in the univeristy - that is a HUGE honor. Sigh.

What cleaning company? I have though a few times of seeing how much it would be...

Yup. I wanted to smack her. Selfish bitch.

And call Laurie at Housekeeping Unlimited 842-2444.

Neat!
