Dark and stormy night

OMG, you guys. Check out these amazing costumes for girls. The Thor one, especially. THOR FOR LITTLE GIRL DRESS UP.

Did you realize that people who have distinct rings of eye colors (like me) actually have A CONDITION? I did not.

I am so glad I don't have to be out at site until Smoker. Holy crap we've got an impressive thunderstorm going on here this morning. And after last night's thunderstorm that kept me up until almost 2am, I would be a soggy, unhappy dancer if I had to be out there in costume and makeup any earlier than necessary.

My abdomen is weirdly swollen this morning (of course). I might have to wear the body stocking just for decency's sake. Don't get me wrong--I'm rather fond of my lower belly puff. It looks (to me) soft and pretty and it helps show off my supersonic vibration in a way that a tight, flat stomach wouldn't. But this morning it's doing that old-man-drip-over-the-waistband thing. Not sexy. What's the deal, body?

The Late Night Callers show at Replay was great (albeit damp and chilly), but I was exhausted and had [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick take me home before the Bottleneck show. It seemed like the best course of action until last night's thunderstorms woke me at midnight and kept me awake for two hours. *sigh*

Have a fantastic flash mob scene. From Beirut.

Love those costumes! My (2yo) great-niece has elected to be a pirate, because she likes the sword! She's getting a good start!

Oh, and I don't know what's supposed to happen up north, but it's supposed to clear off and be hella hot & muggy down in Wichita (my niece is getting married today!).

Thunderstorms, some severe, all day. Highs in the low 70s. Yuck. Not the way I wanted to spend the last Saturday at KCRF. The last Saturday is usually our biggest crowd of the year, and this is going to hurt our numbers (read: $$$) at Smoker.

Central heterochromia

I have it, too! I also did not know it was a condition. I usually say my eyes are green, because I don't think the term hazel is accurate (and I don't like it, for some reason). Now I can say I have central heterochromia, for what that's worth.

Central heterochromiacs* FTW!

*I don't think heterochromiacs is a real word, but it sounds good.

Better than heterochromaniacs, LOL!

And my eyes are that way, also; dark blue ring, with blue & green inside, depending on how big or small my iris is....

I've always seen your eyes as primarily green, rather than hazel, too. I think of hazel eyes as more of a brown veil over an green-amber color, if that makes any sense. James has hazel eyes as does everybody in my Mom's family who doesn't have blue eyes. What color are your parents' eyes?

Dad's eyes are dark brown and Mom's are Swede blue. I got some kind of genetic blending.

Interesting! My mom's eyes are dark brown and my dad's are light blue.

[identity profile] alryssa.livejournal.com 2012-10-13 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh sh... my eyes are exactly like the second example! I didn't realise there was an actual term for it. Wow. That's awesome. :D

NGL, I want that Thor costume for myself too.

Have a good evening at Smoker!

Cool people have cool eyes.

Those costumes are great, but I want to know why Little Girl Thor doesn't get to carry Mjölnir....

And I've never seen anyone quite like you before...

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2012-10-13 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I had no freaking clue. My eyes are the same way. They are three different colors: gold around the center, gray/blue/green in the middle and dark blue on the outside--the two on the right side match best.

Re: And I've never seen anyone quite like you before...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-13 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I had no idea, either! Apparently it's pretty common.

Perfect lyric subject line.

I did just take a peek into Ada's eyes, and she has my eyes -- as they used to be. The dark blue ring on the outside, and the gray/blue in the middle. I didn't get the gold until I was older. I bet Ada will too. I'm wondering too if the gold is why my eyes "change" colors and can look really, really green under certain light--especially with camera flashes.

Jay's eyes are just blue. Like Mac's.

[identity profile] geekmom.livejournal.com 2012-10-15 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
And now I'm starting to wonder exactly how "rare" this thing is. My eyes are like that, too.

Re: And I've never seen anyone quite like you before...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-15 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure condition = rare.

Or ailment. Weird that so many sites used that word, condition, but none of them seemed to indicate it was anything other than an eye color.

[identity profile] hippie-mamabear.livejournal.com 2012-10-13 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait...a website where i can buy toys and things that are empowering to little girls (without already knowing what to look for and scouring Amazon, i mean)? I think you just showed me my new favorite thing, thank you!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-13 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay!!! You're welcome!

[identity profile] kalimeg.livejournal.com 2012-10-13 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It might be a "condition", but those eyes are striking. I love the one at the lower right!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-14 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
That one was my favorite, too!

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2012-10-14 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I want to be Super Grover SO BAD.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-14 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You would be an AWESOME Super Grover.

[identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2012-10-14 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Many thanks for the mighty girl link!
Sweet!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-14 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome! Very relevant to your interests now!

[identity profile] poincaraux.livejournal.com 2012-10-14 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Since when is "looks awesome" a condition?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-10-15 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe they mean it's a condition of being awesome.

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-10-15 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That's my take on it. They didn't want the rest of us to feel jealous, so they cut "of being awesome."

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2012-10-15 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Loved the costumes, but thought the flash mob was fabulous!
