This email was sent (not by me) to the department listserv this morning:

Hi All,

I was very honored and pleased to have received the gift of what I assume to be a cow's tooth in my department mailbox this morning. If I have received it in error, do let me know and I would be happy to return it.Otherwise, I will treasure it, but would love to know the back story of the gift.

Things like that are good reminders of why I continue to work in this department. I mean come on. That's awesome. As were all the pun-laden responses (including "a moooooooving gift," "behoof," "cowntemplate," and "milking this topic"--so far).

I'm swamped this weekend. Tonight I'm hauling my ass (rather, msmitti is hauling my ass and mckitterick's) to see the Blades show tonight in KC. Tomorrow is Henna Day (at least that will be mostly relaxing), and Sunday is my first drumming workshop.

The good news? Houston, we have amphetamines. I picked them up yesterday. Took one (well, a quarter of one) this morning, but am not feeling particularly perked yet. I'm on day three of Really Not Sleeping Well, though, so I'm not terribly surprised.

That is a really weird thing to have in one's mailbox. I don't know if it's more odd to think of it getting there on purpose, or how it could have accidentally landed there? I mean, is there somebody on campus thinking DAMMIT WHERE IS MY COW TOOTH?!

mckitterick is watching dS for the first time with me. We just wrapped up VS parts 1 and 2 a week or so ago. After they get it on,
mckitterick said "I think that was the sexiest thing I have ever seen on television. It might be the best sex scene I've seen...ever."

Someone recommended them to me a while ago via Tumblr. I haven't, but that's largely because I started a rewatch a while ago of the episodes myself to do more or less that very thing on Tumblr (I got sidetracked by RL), so I'm trying not to colour my view on things with other perspectives too much (I've already done a pretty detailed breakdown of the character himself elsewhere). I've had to pause before I take on The Wild Bunch because obviously I just lost a very dear companion so it hits a bit too close to the mark for me at the moment.
