This is not a great day

Any remaining warm fuzzies I felt toward Rob Jones and Peak Performance Physical Therapy dissolved this morning when I opened up a bill from him and found that I owe Three Hundred and Seventy Seven Dollars for my visits in December. Nearly four hundred bucks for a month's worth of about twice-weekly visits (for something that turned out to be a misdiagnosis). I'm going to call them tomorrow to tell them exactly what I think of their policy of telling people at the receptionist window "Oh, it looks like your insurance covers this. You don't owe anything!" and then hitting them with a bill like this three months later. Fuck you, Peak Performance. I'll be revising my Yelp rating and qualifying my recommendation to everyone I've referred to you after our conversation tomorrow. I really should do it today, but stressful dreams left me a little frazzled this morning and I don't have the energy for a conversation like that.

My hopes that the elimination diet was helping were quashed when I swelled up three inches after lunch yesterday and am still up an inch and a half this morning. sigh

The brown boots arrived yesterday and I got to wear them today, but I felt a little stupid for buying them after I opened that physical therapy bill. I couldn't afford them before. I really can't afford them, now. And I'm not sure where the $130 for my Crossfit startup fees will come from. I might have to put that off until the first payday of April. Which is, of course, not until the 13th of the month.

I don't suppose anyone needs any of my leftover stock of bloomers or knitting needle cases, do they?

Three more days until I can have a glass of wine.

*sympathy*

Perhaps something beautiful might help a tiny bit?

You're good. You're real good.

You are stressed. Take that into account. It might not be the diet at all...

Not at the moment, but I was going to ask if you'd like me to take some to vend at Warrior Weekend? It's later in April, but...if You've got 'em, I'll hawk 'em!

Bless you! Let me know when would be a good time to do a hand off. My for-sale stuff for the Sherlock DVDs.

[identity profile] miischelle.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh...whenever. Are you going to be on this side of the line anytime soon?
We need to have a Elemental DVD date anyhow....
Your place?

I'll email ya!

Hugs, I'm sorry. I got nothing to beat those paper hearts. Try Benton.

Mmmmm. BENTON. AND KOWALSKI.

:gnash, gnash: medical insurance shit GAH!!

I understand completely, as I will post later.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry you're dealing with this sorta bullshit, too.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)

At this point, who isn't, or hasn't recently?

Surprise bills make my blood boil, my mouth froth and very rude words come out.

[identity profile] tama-grey.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Word up. Usually, I just pay bills as I get 'em. Saw one for $350 with a note "non-network provider," so I called on it. Freakin' glad I did; the biller said "What? No, that's not right - let me call your insurance and figure out what they need." Minor code adjustment & the bill came back $80. Bless that woman!

And curse insurance bullshit.

[identity profile] miischelle.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
& the bill came back $80.

That sounds eerily familiar to my first kidney stone, when the insurance denied coverage because something was coded wrong, and I got an 8000$ bill. It took 3 months to clear up completely...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You know...I called insurance about this the first time I got a crazy bill from them and I never heard back about it. I wonder if this is more of the same. I'll find out tomorrow.

[identity profile] tama-grey.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn. I don't even know what to say. I hope things improve for you soon!

Meanwhile, I'll start working on discovering a way to punch life right in the face.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I really need to start punching things again.

YES

So sorry you have to deal with all this right now, and ditto on the stress might be effecting the bloating.

Definitely recheck with your insurance on the bill. And hey, they took 3 months to send it to you, you can take at least that long to pay whatever you end of owing them.

Hope you feel better. And if it helps, picture yourself on this horse :): http://timstvshowcase.com/duesouth.html (scroll down just a bit).

For. Real. And would you believe (of course you would) they had the gall to stamp PAST DUE in red letters across it?

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought they only did that with mine ;-)

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally my response. You'll see that I put mine beside yours on the counter, and my final charges are WAY LESS than yours. Clearly they just haven't been processed properly by insurance (if at all).

Time for more work! Call 'em and get this corrected.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Time for more work! Call 'em and get this corrected.

I will. Because I have tons of time and energy to deal with this bullshit.

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, let me pay for both our Crossfit fees. Think of it as a health present and part of my Crossfit Solidarity! Or I can pay for your pretty new boots, if you'd rather I buy you shiny instead of sweaty ;-)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You're awesome. We can talk about it tonight I mean tomorrow ... er. Whenever we see each other again. This weekend?

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
;-)

Awwwh! This post made me melt. :)

[identity profile] poincaraux.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Speaking of medical insurance, guess who just found out that their medical insurance doesn't cover a single cent towards any form of contraception at all?

Welcome to the Dark Ages!

Even financially, this is such a stupid decision. The cost of contraception vs. the cost of 24 years of health insurance + 4 years of college tuition ... not really a contest.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)

JFC.

It is, however, my opinion that you should have even moar babies. If I could subsidize the cost of a child for you, I totally would. The world needs more people like you and yours.

[identity profile] poincaraux.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww. Now I'm blushing for real! Thanks!

I could always be wrong, but I think we're done at this point. Evie + twins turns out to be quite a bit of work than just Evie. Who knew?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I just looked over at your latest photo (yes, I keep them up at my workplace) and squeed at how cute you all are.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-13 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Am I the only person who wants to bite babies when I see their little fat rolls?

[identity profile] poincaraux.livejournal.com 2012-03-13 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Been there. Done that. Bit the baby.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-13 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
IT IS GOOD NOT TO BE ALONE.

[identity profile] shrijani.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a similar experience with another local practitioner, and I am going to write a letter protesting the charges, due primarily to the way our professional relationship ended, which is inappropriate for me to discuss here, but I will tell you all about it the next time I see you if we determine that I haven't told you already.

I am sorry you are having to deal with that, and I am sorry the elimination diet did not fix things. :(

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
UGH.

Yes, please at least tell me who it was (in private) so I can avoid him/her as well.

SO LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR WINE AND HOOKAH DATE.
