Eight would be enough, thank you

Here's something I never thought I'd say. I don't watch enough television. Thanks, Cracked.com.

I couldn't fall asleep last night until past eleven. I woke at 3:08 this morning. Good times. Is it any wonder that my favorite Stephen King novel is Insomnia?

At my first (or second) Crossfit session, one of the trainers asked how many people got at least eight hours of sleep a night. I was the only person who raised my hand. Next time, Red, keep your fucking hand down. Christ. The last time I got five nights of eight uninterrupted hours was probably...um. Last month?

I woke [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick, too, and he's none too pleased about that.

JFC I'M TIRED.

Last night's Crossfit was pretty much All Deadlifts All The Time. We spent most of the hour practicing form and slowly working our way up to our max weight. Mine was 115 pounds. Meh. Good thing I'm not actually in competition with anyone else. My form was pretty good until we neared the end and my muscles were starting to fatigue pretty bad. I can already tell that my glutes are gonna hate me tomorrow.

Picking up those plates from the floor makes me think I'm gonna have to cut my nails off sooner rather than later. Pity, too, because they're back in fine form--probably just under a quarter-inch long past the nailbed. Don't you wish you had my problems.

Well, except for the insomnia crap. I wouldn't wish that on anyone except maybe Dick Cheney, who probably, ironically, has no problems sleeping at night.

I found some medium-weight, slightly stretchy black denim for Watson's coat. Yay for 40% Hancock fabric coupons, too. I wish I felt competent enough to start tracing the pattern. But my brain is complete mush right now. I feel a little dizzy, I'm so tired. Heading up to the office in three hours is going to be a miserable experience.

ETA: At work, and yes, miserable. Not helping is this article: Regina Tasca, a New Jersey police officer, faces a department trial after pulling two colleagues off an unarmed, non-violent man.

I'm...done.

Gah. Sorry to hear that. Insomnia goblins must be making the rounds. Little bastards.

I wonder if it's literally in the air. You know, like allergens.

[identity profile] tama-grey.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't surprise me. I'm not actually allergic to anything that I'm aware of, however, put enough debris in my system and I'm sure there'll be some fallout. I've heard a few other folks complaining of excessive fatigue &/or unusual insomnia the past few days, too.

Although, could it be your body adjusting to your recent not-smoking? Maybe it just needs a few days.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
could it be your body adjusting to your recent not-smoking?

It's never happened before. You know, the other fifteen or so times I've quit.

[identity profile] tama-grey.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't figure, but there's always the possibility of one's body doing things one doesn't expect. For some reason I was thinking there might be some other things you're doing differently (a change in meds, maybe?) this time around that might cause a normal behavior (quitting smoking) to turn out differently. Biochemistry is bizarre and complicated.

Insomnia still sucks, no matter what the cause. :(

:weak fist bump:

I've been up since 12:30 myself.. after I was still tossing about around 3:00, I just said Ofuggedaboutsleep. Here's hoping the 4 hours of "gee I hope I sleep through the night" gets me through today.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You. Poor. Thing.

*pat*pat*hug*

Thank modern medicine for little blue helpers.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm *this close* to asking Dr. Burt for a prescription.

I can't even blame the amphetamines, either. I stopped taking them two weeks ago.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)

And the shortage is still going on as well.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it irony that I worked so hard to get them, and then they stopped working? I'm so bad at figuring out if something is ironic or just ridiculous circumstance.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
They do that, which is why I don't exactly take them as prescribed.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm now saving mine for parties, cons, and KCRF.

JFC I'M TIRED.

OMFG. I FEEL YOU.

My brain is offline, my lady innards are in full revolt, and I am strongly inclined to buy a bottle of Balvenie Portwood 20 year, though that would be a preposterous expenditure. I keep calling the clothes dryer the oven. I am calling dogs cats, and cats, dogs. I am on autopilot, and my autopilot is compromised.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I would *solidarity fistbump* you, but I don't think I can raise my arm.

[identity profile] shrijani.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I am pretty sure I would call you the wrong name and tumble out of my chair like a loose sack of marbles, so we'll call it good, and just try to slog through the rest of this wholly unnecessary day.

I'm loving the crossfit updates. I know I need to build some more muscle since one loses it with age.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay!

I think you're in the Lone Star State, yes? If that's right, and if you're lucky enough to be in the Austin area, I hear good things about Crossfit Austin (http://www.crossfitaustin.com/). I believe that's where my friend Melissa Joulwan (http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/) goes.

[identity profile] pennswoods.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Argh! Everything awesome is in Austin. I'm in San Antonio, which is only about 80 miles away, but that's a bit further than I'd like to go for a workout.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-19 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that'd be quite a drive. If you'd like, I can drop Mel a line to ask if she has any thoughts on the San Antonio box.

[identity profile] siro-gravity.livejournal.com 2012-04-20 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Regina Taska.
yeah. Let no good deed go unpunished. She is exactly what cops are supposed to be like and SHE'S the one being psychologically examined and laid off work?

hey, I hope you get some zzzzzzzzzz.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-04-20 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I did! Seven and a half hours last night!!!!
