With the emphasis on slow.

I don't think I've ever suffered through such a long day at work. Now that orientation and advising are finished, I'm left with very little to do until students return next week. I've been jumping at the chance to help students use the new online enrollment system. Mail to distribute? I'm your girl! Yeah, it's pretty bad.

I simply cannot face another game of Diamond Mine.

Something that makes me very happy, though: Today I finished the two week Induction Phase of my low-carb life. Starting now, I get to start gradually increasing carbs from 20 grams a day until I stop losing weight.

And I gleefully checked in a full ten pounds lighter this morning. Ten pounds in two weeks is really good for induction, especially for someone like me who really doesn't have *that* much to lose. I'm hoping I can make a pound a week loss from here on out. If I can do that, I'll be over halfway to my goal by the end of the year.

I've also noticed improvements due to the Levoxyl. My nails and hair are back to a normal growth rate, and I don't have to take a nap every single afternoon. I was very very active Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of this week, and while I was sore on Wednesday, I wasn't physically drained. Hurray for synthetic hormones!

Work on the new dance costume is coming along. I keep getting distracted from it, but since I'm out of town the weekend before the Aladdin gig, I really need to wrap most of it up by Monday. Finished: bra, vest, and pants. Still on the cutting table: blouse, hip wraps, and fake braids. This is my first costume that I've developed around a theme other than basic Tribal Style, so I'm excited about it. I think it's gonna look really stunning.

Last night I went out to Wal*Mart (groan!!!) for some fabric to make the muslin for the blouse. I've never made this pattern before and I really don't want to waste my good fabric if it doesn't look right. I found some stellar white eyelet fabric that is so perfect I might just use the muslin for the actual garment if it turns out ok. I also found two cheapo DVDs, Big Trouble in Little China, and Rudy.

I need to go back to pick up another copy of Rudy for my dad. He uses video clips a lot in his lectures and workshops. I imagine there are about fifty clips from Rudy that he could use.

Since I see nothing that would interest anyone other than another poor soul as bored as I am, I will close this entry. Snore.

Got the blouse made up and it's about eight sizes too small. It would work for someone with 32" hips. And this was a one-size fits all pattern? I'm very annoyed. It wasn't at all flowy. Much much much too narrow. Even the sleeves don't drape like they do in the illustration. Grrrr.

Got some more cheap fabric. It's in the washing machine now. I'll try again tomorrow morning with a modified pattern. Major setback.
