Friday five--or not

I'm not a risk-taker. I don't do things because they are daring, bold, or unconventional. I do things because I want to do them and I do them after weighing the pros and cons of the situation. One of the questions was "What one thing do you want to do that your mother/friend/significant other would not like." Huh? Well, my mom didn't like it when I pierced my tongue, but I didn't (and don't) consider that to be a Real Bold Move. I guess riding motorcycles is risky and I don't think Mommy likes the fact that I rarely wear a helmet. So I guess that counts, but again, I don't think of it as being bold or risky. It's just a choice.
I've had people tell me that I'm brave because I don't bow to societal pressure or behave in prescribed ways. For instance, in elementary school, I always went out of my way to be nice to the new girl and sit with her at lunch (my first taste of life's unfairness was when nobody did this for me when I was the new girl, but that's not the point here). My mother has told me she thinks I'm a strong person, but I don't think so. It's just the way I am. It's the way I was raised, thanks to strong, supportive parents.
The brave people are the ones who face down their discomfort. My boy 0 is a brave person for going out to parties and such even though he is terribly uncomfortable in groups. rougewench is a strong person for rising above a less-than-supportive father and realizing herself as a gorgeous, powerful woman. radcliffe is an inspiration to me for following her dreams and supporting herself by doing something she loves. I could go on, but this is getting sappy--something I avoid as much as taking risks.
No real point here. I just felt like giving a raspberry to today's Friday Five. Not that there aren't risk-takers out there who probably loved the questions...I'm just not one of them.
