UPDATE:
And, whoa! Content! I completely forgot to mention this when I posted earlier today. I've spoken to a couple people recently about how rare it is to read fantasy or science fiction where the protagonist is happy to be pulled out of his normal world and the main point of the book is not his desperate journey back home. Well, of course, my beloved Clive Barker has pleased me yet again by providing exactly such a heroine in Abarat. I told myself I wouldn't buy this book until the series was finished (there will be four), but I didn't want to wait anymore. I'm very happy that I didn't. In fact, I might return the trade paperback I bought and exchange it for a hardbound copy. I love this book. While the deviant sexual stuff is nonexistent (appropriate in Young Adult Fiction, probably), his sense of the nightmarish fantastic is right front and center. I think this is one of his best. Probably second only to Imajica, for me.

UPDATE 2: Sorry for all the updates, folks. It's a super slow day here.

From [livejournal.com profile] draco_kc is this rather entertaining, um, thing:

"Right now you have a possibility to compare yourself impartially with the Top Celebrities in the World. We do not know you and have no reasons to make things better than they are. Our engine ANALOGIA will find most matching similarities between your portrait and 200 photos of Top Stars. Pattern recognition software will test you. It shows 3 best matches, and, finally, only you decide if you are looking like those famous persons."

Here are my results, good for 48 hours. Judging from the results, I think I need to find a better face shot (that doesn't involve me photoshopping out facial tattoos). Although I can see the similarities in the comparison with Gina Gershon--mostly in the eyebrows--Jamie Lee Curtis I am not. And let's not even talk about The Other Woman Mentioned.

People who know me say I resemble Claudia Black, which kicks ass and probably makes me a little too vain, but oh well. The woman is hawt.
