A decision made

I will be dancing for Middle Eastern weekend at RenFest this year. I told the troupe leader months ago that I would do it. I told many friends and co-workers I'd be dancing. I can't disappoint my adoring public, can I? Oh, and did I mention the new costume rocks? Ahem. So anyway, despite ambivalent feelings, I will be dancing this year. And I have 10 months or so to consider how I feel about the issue for next year. This would be so much easier if I didn't absolutely love dancing out there. I've been absent from the RenFest performances for four years now and I've missed it terribly every single time.

In the "I can't believe I was that oblivious" category: All summer I scrimped and saved my vacation days, holiday comp hours, and discretionary day in order to take at least one of the weeks of xmas/new year's off from work. Grand plan, right? Don't ask me why, but it took me this long to realize I can't take those days off because those are the final days leading up to the first graduate application deadline. Um, can we all give me a big duh and a slap on the forehead? What the hell. And of course, now it's too damn late for me to take vacation days until well into September. The next week and a half I'm gearing up for orientation and taking advising appointments. Then orientation and then classes start. Gah. What an idiot. I think it's fair to say that other life distractions are sufficiently impairing my mental capabilities.

A couple afternoon tidbits

Celestial Seasoning's Tangarine Orange Zinger makes really good iced tea.

Cottage cheese and blueberries is my new favorite breakfast.

People who smack their gum generally have other annoying habits as well. Loud chewing is rarely a singular vice.

My wrist is really bugging me from working with stupid laptop keyboards and annoying pad/eraser type mouse devices.

I will be making chocolate chip cookies this afternoon when I get home from work.
