Friday favors...I mean fives, well, and a favor

First, the favor: If someone would be willing to help me put some fabric up for sale on eBay, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't have a working computer at the house right now. I also don't have a lot of time to futz around with learning the seller system on eBay. What I do have is several lengths of fabric that I really don't care to move. I will be happy to pay you with either a meal or a backrub. Please email me rather than comment here. Thanks.

With an eye the coming cool weather, I am considering making the coat in this pattern to wear out at faire. Yeah, it's a couple hundred years later than the supposed year at festival, but a couple of the pirates (including one of the chick pirates) are wearing them. And it's just a glorious pattern. I love how full the tails are. 6 yards of fabric for the size small! rougewench, if you think this absolutely will not fly, please let me know, ok? Thanks.

Why I really do like my job

Ocassionally I get emails like this:

I want to thank you for your recommendation of Dr. H's class for this semester. I can now see why he is the most "beloved professor". He has a kind heart, a great sense of humor and is very interesting to listen to. In addition, he clearly loves the English language. These traits make a 3-hour lecture go by quicker. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. I'm really enjoying him. I can't thank you enough.

Now I feel all perky and happy. I like helping people who 1) ask me to help them do something (instead of asking me to do it for them), and 2) appreciate the help given. Hurray for cool graduate students!

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence

Unless the theater changes showtimes, it looks like we're on for the 7:30 show on Wednesday, October 6. gamera_spinning, please let me know if any of the other people you mentioned would like me to pick up tickets ahead of time.

Anyone else who'd like to join us (looks like it'll be a good-sized group of a dozen or so), please let me know. And if you're coming in from out of town and would like me to get your ticket in advance, no problem. Just let me know by, say, Monday of next week.
