I can't believe it's June already. This summer is slipping through my fingers and I hate that.

Yesterday evening was exactly what I want every summer evening to be: wonderful hours of perfectly combined energy and sloth with good friends, sipping drinks and planning world domination on the outdoor porch of Replay Lounge. Lookout, folks! roya_spirit, J., and chernobylred have big plans on the horizon.

Did the storm keep anyone else awake last night? Geez. Big rumbles of thunder and rain patter right at 2:00 a.m. Hope anyone leaving the bars last night got home moderately dry (eyes mckitterick and amjhawk).

I don't know if it's the new eating regimen or what, but I've been getting tired even earlier than normal. During the week, I'm tired by 8:00 and in bed at 9:30 p.m. I sleep all the way until my alarm goes off at 7:00 a.m. I don't understand why I was only sleeping six hours a night at ConQuesT. Adrenaline, I suppose. Monday through Friday, though--man. I'm beat. It's frustrating. I'm not getting anything done! And at this point in the summer, I really need to be getting things done.

Speaking of getting things done, my office is nearly all packed up. It's really annoying. I keep getting things from the college that need to be filed in folders that are already boxed. We got word yesterday that it looks like we won't get moved until Thursday. Bleh. So I'm looking at a week of sitting in this half-state. And you all know how much I despise feeling unsettled. It sucks. Hm. Maybe this is why I'm so tired when I get home from work!

And now, speaking of work, I suppose I should get to it. Meh.

THE CAMPUS IS NOT IN LOCKDOWN BUT IF YOU SEE ANY SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR ON CAMPUS, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY. IF YOU ARE IN THE CENTRAL CAMPUS AREA, PLEASE REMAIN INDOORS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

UNIVERSITY POLICE HAVE COMPLETED A COMPREHENSIVE SEARCH OF CAMPUS IN RESPONSE TO AN UCONFIRMED REPORT.
THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ANY THREAT AND EVERYONE ON CAMPUS IS ADVISED TO RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATIONS.

Now what really sucks is notice that Sent: time in the first message? Yeah, they evacuated Wescoe at 9:20 this morning. So it took them an hour to send out that message. Thanks.

Back at work, now. I don't feel real great about the fact that they didn't find anything. As I recall, they gave an all-clear at Virginia Tech, too. I have a feeling the rest of today is going to be really tense.

Edit From a comment I posted in cedarsong's LJ: It wasn't a shot I heard, thank gods. It was some fucking numbnut chopping down a tree behind Bailey. We definitely need a better communication system on this campus. I mean, if you're sending your cops into a building (with drawn rifles) to evacuate it, maybe you better tell your facilities crews to stop using loud machinery that makes big banging noises. I mean come on people. Jesus Fuck.
