Kind of all over the place, here
Apr. 28th, 2010 12:00 pmSince spending way too much money a few years ago on Hello Kitty checks* from Checks In The Mail, I regularly get notices of specials and new products from them. Today's subject line said "Stock up on Stylish Debit Caddies & Coin Purses" and I wondered--who the hell stocks up on anything besides canned goods and sale cuts of meat these days (edit: AND WINE)? I mean seriously. Of course, after looking up the URL for the Hello Kitty checks, this return address stamp is trying to seduce me. Le sigh.
I hate the fact that I must check my luggage even though I can fit a four-day trip to my parents' house in a carry-on with room to spare. This is the last time, though. I hope. Really really hope I'm not in the .1% of LASIK fuck-ups.
Getting myself to and from the airport is so depressing. The return trip isn't so bad (although it's a bit self-indulgently morose-making when there's nobody to greet me at the gate) because honestly it's really fantastic to have some goddamn alone time finally. But driving myself to the airport and hoisting my luggage into the parking lot shuttle by myself is never the exciting and anticipatory thrill that I feel it should be.
I was just informed that yesterday's faculty reception had leftover chicken breast skewers and they are in the department fridge. Since all I brought for lunch today was cottage cheese, this brightened my mood considerably. Alas, the lovely coconut bars and brownies are off-limits, but I am happily making do with the chicken lollipops.
Huzzah.
* Let me clarify that although they really were way too expensive they were totally worth it and I don't regret the purchase for a moment.
