Blown clean away

I woke early again this morning (5:08!) and am enjoying quiet time with coffee and the internet. Not really so quiet, though, since the wind is busily tearing it up outside. I might have to sneak into the bedroom to change into a pair of jeans if that keeps up. Bloomers or no bloomers, it's no fun fighting the wind in a skirt on the way up the hill.

After several weeks of deliberation regarding my New Year's Eve plans, I finally hatched an idea. I'm going to clean the house. Right now it's an absolute pit. Dust bunnies of astounding size clutter the stairs, the downstairs bathroom (where Fetish lives now) is pretty disgusting, and let us not even mention the state of the kitchen floor. As soon as mckitterick wakes from his Thursday evening shenanigans, out come the rags and vacuum cleaners. Goodbye, still-lingering xmas stuff (cards, stocking stuffers) littering the coffee and dining tables. Hello, clean living space. This way, the house will still be somewhat tidy for the week I'm home from work. Clever, eh?

I might leave the xmas decorations up until the last few days of my January vacation. While I'm not a fan of the holiday itself, I do like the pretty (and non-religious) visual trappings. I should take a photo of our tree and fireplace garland. They're so pretty.

Good lord, it's blowing up a storm out there. I guess this is the required accompaniment to the unseasonably warm temperature. It's fifty-five degrees right now, and will be fifty-nine when I come home. Heck, I might not even wear my heavy coat to work! But with winds at twenty-three miles an hour and gusts up to thirty-six, I am definitely trading out the skirt for some jeans today.
