clevermanka: default (i am so happy!)
The new Smoker costume is done--lining and all. I probably say this about every costume when I finish it, but it's my favorite! I'm happy with the mixed-metals theme (I used both gold and silver on it, to make it mix-and-match-able), and the pieces that drape around the belt and bra are (I think) very flattering. I exacerbated my still-sore left wrist, though, and did a number on my right one, too, from attaching all the coins and bells to the drape chains. Oops.

I'm about halfway done with the dress for the wedding. I picked View B of a pattern that isn't like anything I've ever worn or made before, but it had three things going for it:

1. It's wedding-appropriate*.

2. The style will survive the seasonal transition to the other two weddings I've got later this fall.

3. It's an A/B/C/D cup-sized pattern and it's princess-seamed, so I knew I wouldn't have to do a lot of extra fitting for it. In fact, don't tell anyone, but I didn't even make a mock-up.

I hope to finish the dress this evening! Yay!

*I've seen some appalling clothing choices at weddings recently, so I've decided to pay more attention to what I wear to them. Bad clothing choices at weddings are beginning to rival those seen at funerals. Yes, I am very conservative when it comes to fashion and certain social functions. Sue me.
