The chimney is still silent. I hope this means the little creature escaped, not expired. I guess we'll know in a few days.

Today's the last day of my actual vacation time and I haz the sads. I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick will pop in to say something optimistic, so let me just nip that in the bud right now and assert my opinion that weekends do not count as vacation time. They just don't. You can disagree with me, but that's just your opinion, man.

Yesterday's chimney invasion (and afternoon rainstorm) delayed my errand-running. Jaunting about town is therefore on the Must Accomplish Before Six This Evening list. Post office, license plate office, other downtown crap, and then groceries. Oh, I need to find a place that sells lacrosse balls. Any suggestions? I'll order online as a last resort, but I'd really like to just pick 'em up locally.

While downtown, I'm taking my few remaining vintage garments to Wild Man. Twenty years ago, I dressed nearly exclusively in vintage clothes. Now, the very idea of dealing with metal zippers, too-high waists, and ill-fitting shoulders tires me. The five dresses I have left are my favorites of my favorites, but I haven't worn any of them in years. Years and years. Even though I outgrew them (physically and emotionally), I held onto them for sentimental reasons. But now I need the closet space and the money--and I never thought vintage clothes belonged in a closet. They should be worn, and eventually worn out. Still, I'll miss them. I can remember specific events wearing each of those garments. Fortunately, three of them were captured in portraits--one in a sitting I did with my parents, and two of them in a modeling session I did with Mike Manley.

Earlier this week I got some bad news, but haven't been able to voice it here because, you know, talking about it makes it real. Our Moriarty bowed out of the Sherlock63 costume because she has family obligations on Memorial Day Weekend that she'd forgotten. Tragedy. I am sad sad sad about it. Watson, however, is stalwart and committed and very nearly done except for the coat (for which I am responsible and have not yet even purchased fabric good lord what is my problem). Anyway, we are now down to a twosome, which makes the presentation simpler for certain but much less dramatic. I'm still pondering whether I want to go with a version of the Thrilling Presentation I'd planned, just minus the Moriarty, or something a little less...animated. Well, that should be the least of my worries at this point.

I woke up at 4:30 this morning and I'm coming to realize this might just be my New Normal. It's not all bad. While I'm on vacation, it means I have hours of alone time, which is always nice. And once I get back to Regular Life, I'll be able to make it to the 6am Crossfit sessions (after I pass my Elements tests). Attending a morning workout certainly makes the rest of my day easier. Scheduling time to exercise after work is such a hassle.

Hm. I've got eleven and a half hours to get everything done before my self-imposed 6:00pm deadline. I suppose I could get the grocery shopping out of the way...
