I went to CrossFit last night! It was tough, but not overwhelming. Our warm-up was crazy. It was a 50-40-30-20-10 of double-unders and sit-ups. Since I still can't do double-unders, I had to double the jumps, so for me it was 100 single jumps, 50 sit-ups, 80 single jumps, 40 sit-ups, etc. The worst part was the 150 (total) sit-ups. My abs got tired, yes, but what I really hated was the nausea from the back-and-forth movement of the sit-ups that set in somewhere around the half-way mark of the second set. By the time I was done, I couldn't walk a straight line. *woo* I'm surprised I managed to stay upright on the last two sets of jump-rope.
I gotta work on getting double-unders, for real.
I missed two weeks of CrossFit because of my Hashimoto’s flareup (boo). Last night was my first night back in the box, and there was only one other person in attendance for the 4:30 WOD. We introduced ourselves and she was nervous because she’d missed a month. I confessed to missing two weeks because of illness, and said we’d struggle through together. When she asked about what illness, I sorta hedged and said "Oh, I have a little autoimmune disease." She squinted at me and said "Me, too. I have Hashimoto’s."
OMG NEW BFF SQUEE!!! We were so excited to meet a fellow Hashi-sufferer in person–and at CrossFit! This is the first person I've met in person who has Hashimoto's--and the same for her. She's treating hers with diet and acupuncture, too. I gave her my email and we're going to stay in contact, outside of CrossFit, to exchange notes and support. The thing Paleo makes her miss the most is beer. You know I like this woman.
