Whole9 posted this Tip of the Day on their Facebook page a couple days ago.

If you have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) or gut dysbiosis, don't expect that to get considerably better until you've directly and adequately addressed adrenal function. Part of that is lifestyle modification, and part of that may be a specific, data-informed supplement protocol. All the sauerkraut and bone broth and probiotic supplements in the world won't fix a disrupted gut if your stress levels are sky high, or if your HPA axis is shot. #adrenalsfirst

Last week, a friend emailed me this article about how adrenal stress can trigger hypothyroid symptoms. This article references a lot of studies that the Whole9 article (unfortunately) fails to note. I know my health issues are systemic, and everything is related. But it's still interesting, and sometimes daunting, to discover new underlying causes. I need to figure out how to incorporate potential solutions. Not getting angry at my body can't not help with my stress levels. What else can I do to lower my stress levels? Some ideas:

Dance more (bop-around-the-living-room, not performances)
Enroll in a yoga class
Establish a daily meditation schedule
Go to bed earlier (I've slipped into a 10:30-or-later bedtime lately)
Clear my plate of projects (with the exception of the Chevelle)
Relax about how much money I spend on my health
Buy a fish oil supplement that has adequate levels of DHA & EPA and is 100% free of allergens.

I'm going to mention these articles at my next visit with Dr. Khosh, especially the suggestions at the end of the Kresser article (Specific nutrients such as phosphatidyl serine and adaptogenic botanicals like Panax ginseng, Siberian ginseng, Ashwagandha and Holy basil leaf extract are also helpful in modulating the stress response and supporting the adrenals). And I'm definitely going to suggest to Kiva that we start focusing on adrenal stuff with the acupuncture.
