Okay, well, day one was pretty fucking horrible. The only part of my body that didn't ache was my feet (possibly because I'd massaged them with some immune-boosting essential oils mixed with coconut oil). I was coughing all the time, which did nothing for my headache, and I was running a fever between 100.8 and 100.1 pretty much all day which is pretty high for me since my normal body temp hovers around 97.6.

A lot of my waking hours yesterday were spent reading this fic. It's a fix-it fic for Sherlock season 3, from Mary's POV, and doesn't have a whole lot of sex in it, so it was perfect for sick-day reading. Thanks to all for the kind responses to yesterday's post. I'm sorry I didn't have the energy to respond.

I managed to sleep most of the night, but woke up at some point in the wee hours absolutely drenched in sweat. I had to get up to change my pajamas and move to the other side of the bed. When I finish this half-grapefruit (and Tumblr), I'll strip the bed and put the sheets and mattress pad in the wash. I have a space heater set up and warming my studio/art room so it should be (I hope) nice and cozy for some restorative yoga which I desperately need.

Since all I had to eat yesterday was a grapefruit and a handful of plantain chips, I thought I'd weigh myself to see how much food-related inflammation my body carries around on a daily basis. When I stripped down for an epsom salt bath, I could see my abs for the first time in just about forever, so I knew I must be down some serious weight. Six pounds. Six pounds in one day. God, no wonder my back and hips ache so much. Shit, I might not have muscle/joint tightness at all. It might just be constant fucking inflammation. I'll certainly bring that up with Dr. Jonah next week.

I'm home from work today, too, since I still feel pretty awful (chills, headache, coughing, nose drip) and I'm still running a slight fever (down to 99.7).

I know the flu shot they gave this year turned out to be a wrong choice (it's always a gamble), but I'd heard it at least made the flu that is going around easier. Good lord. The last time I remember being this ill was in 1997 when I missed a week of work and classes because of the flu. That was the last year I didn't get a flu shot and the last time I got the flu.

This is a nasty bug, y'all. Stay safe and healthy.

Even restorative yoga can be exhausting. Who knew.

I managed to pull myself together long enough to make some chicken soup. First time using my food processor to chop things. Not as tidy or uniform as I'd chop them myself, but god, so much easier. No way I would have had the ability to (safely) chop a bunch of carrots and celery. As it is, I'm too wiped out even to eat the damn soup.

Laid low by yoga and soup-making. JFC.
