Sunday Snippet
Oct. 20th, 2019 10:36 amGot an encouraging email from my beta about Ghost Story this morning and am feeling relieved. A lot has happened in the story, despite my getting in comparatively few words this week (fewer than 5k words for the week when I'd been averaging 1k/day). As spring break approaches, Zhu Hong has a come-to-jesus with Zhao Yunlan about his lack of academic progress.
“I am choosing to trust you,” she said, eyes narrowing, then sighed. “I just wish you knew what you were doing.”
He snorted. “When have I ever?” Instinct and inspiration had served him his entire life and he didn’t see the point in changing tactics now.
Grumbling, she dug to the bottom of the insulated bag for the flask stashed there. “Why do I bother with you?” she muttered, unscrewing the cap.
After her long swallow, he shrugged before taking his turn with the booze, appreciating the long, slow burn. “Truly a question for the ages,” he said, wiping his mouth. He watched her pack up the remains of their dinner and took another swig before handing it back. “Seriously, though. I will finish, I promise. And it will be amazing.”
After finishing with email and social media, I'm writing the sex scene that I've put off twice bc It Just Didn't Fit The Narrative. Wish me luck it actually happens this time!
