Sunday Snippet
Nov. 28th, 2021 09:37 amThey're just sleeping it off. They're fine.
I finished Good Intentions yesterday! This accomplishment would not have been possible without the support of
naye and
write_out who agreed to accompany me on Just Getting Some Damn Words Down Every Day. When I picked this story back up in October (after nearly a six-month hiatus) it had 13,002 words. It ended a bit over 27,000.
One of the reasons I had problems finishing this fic (other than, you know, *waves hand at everything*) was I knew it couldn't have a happy ending. I mean it's made clear in Hellbent for Leather and Left in the Dark that our guys aren't together so this teenage romance wasn't going to have an HEA. I was more sad writing this than A Certain Other Story with A Certain Major Archive Warning! I tried to lighten the bleakness as much as possible, and we all know it will eventually work out for them because they must wind up happy in every universe as far as I'm concerned, but still. ðŸ˜
I won't hit y'all with a sad snippet, though, so have this bit of cuteness:
“You better get out of here and start enjoying your views, then,” the advisor said. His laughing eyes matched Zhao Yunlan’s. “You’ve only got three and a half days left of them.”
Shen Wei directed his embarrassed smile toward the floor.
“Yes sir,” he said.
He couldn’t remember the last time he’d uttered the phrase with any sense of happiness. Three and a half days left and he was going to make the most of every one. He grabbed Zhao Yunlan’s hand and walked toward the dining hall. They only had to get through lunch with Ye Zun and the rest of the group before resuming yesterday’s appreciation of the forest scenery.
