Last night was not a good night for sleeping. I didn't fall into an actual sleep until well after midnight, then I woke up at 5:00 a.m. this morning. At that point, my mind went through the following:

Shit, it's early.
I could get up.
I could get up and make brownies.
I could get up and make brownies for my birthday!
...
Wait.
Today's not my birthday.
Shit, it's early.

And then I drowsed off and on until the alarm rang at 7:00.

Ugh.

On the plus side, we paid great homage to the Hamstring Gods last night in yoga. It was just what I needed.

This is rich.

Bush says he didn't intend to insult Democrats. WASHINGTON, Jan 29 - President George W. Bush said on Monday he did not intend to insult Democrats by failing to pronounce their party's full name in his State of the Union address. Click for full story, archived here )

Leaving the somewhat petty complaint of the Democratic party aside, this is the statement that really got me: Bush called it an oversight and said he was "not that good at pronouncing words anyway." He said he was surprised at the level of distrust in Washington.

Well he's not that good at leading the country, so maybe he should just give up trying to do that, too. And he's surprised at the level of distrust in Washington? You've got to be fucking kidding me. "And the American people don't like that," my ass. How the hell would he know what the American people would or wouldn't like? He hasn't paid any attention to "the American people" since 2000, when we didn't elect him that time, either.
