1. There's a DIY LJ comm spotlighted on the main LJ page, so I thought I'd go check it out. I am apparently too old/bitchy for the group, since all the posts began "Hi! I'm 17," "Hi! I'm 20," Hi, I'm 19," etc. The oldest person I saw was 30. Nothing against young'uns, but I think my DIY interests have very little in common with theirs. Hemp jewlery for my buddies? Polymer clay pieces? Crochet Barbie clothes? Not so much. I don't even consider that stuff DIY, really. Building your own coffetable and fashioning a lamp (from a blender) to put on it--That's DIY. Making clothes out of recycled material--while fun, innovative, and commendable--is not (IMO) DIY. Isn't there an LJ group for crotchety old bags who like to make things that look like they weren't handmade? While high? In a dorm room?

2. I crossed out all the upcoming RenFest weekends in my planner. It never gets any less bizarre to realize that I don't have a free weekend until late October (although I am taking one weekend off Faire for a Rockabilly event this year).

3. [livejournal.com profile] cedarsong and [livejournal.com profile] everflame loaned me their copy of HP #7 this weekend. Sunday saw me down for the count with a nasty period, so I spent all day on the couch or in bed reading. I wrapped it up in about 11 hours, including some nap and meal time. So that's one thing to cross off the to-do list. Now if I could just finish up this period, I'd be thrilled. I'm so bloated and uncomfortale, I look like I'm in my second trimester. Ugh.

4. Yesterday I visited Dr. Burt at FirstMed for a meet-the-doctor visit and renew my referral to my endocrinologist (a yearly obligation--oh lovely insurance paperwork how I love thee). In a word: AWESOME. We spoke for a while about my ever-increasing allergies and he wrote me a prescription for an alternate allergy med that contains something very similar to phenylpropanolamine as a decongestant. Then we talked about alternate treatments for allergies. I mentioned that I'd looked into seeing Mikell Adams for her NMT allergy treatment. He knew someone who had great success with Dr. Adams's allergy treatment and offered to send me a referral to her office before I could even ask for it. Wow. Just...wow. What a fantastic guy. A zillion thanks to [livejournal.com profile] roya_spirit for the recommendation. The office is a wee bit ghetto, but with attention and service like that, who the hell cares about office carpet? A doctor who listens with an open mind and actually cares about the patient, not about pushing drugs, is as rare as rubies.

5. Because I'm not doing Faire full-time this year, I have a very limited number of passes available. Please let me know asap if you want a pass from me this year. Email notification is better than commenting, so I can save the info in my gmail inbox. Thanks!
